The VN's are really incredible bikes, and coupled with fuel injection, makes them super reliable and usually pop off pretty quickly once everything is sorted through. Great advice for those who just warm them up during the Winter down times that people who live in temperate climates are accustomed to. Thanks Cody!

07 VN900 Classic LT owner here. I would watch more videos about the VN900! The best $4,000 I ever spent was on this bike... I have had several other bikes that were significantly more expensive and way more powerful... but this bike is just an incredible back road cruiser. It is the most relaxed and chill motorcycle I have ever ridden. Buttery smooth at everything it does. It isn't fast, so if you want your hair set on fire and your arms pulled off this ain't it... but you can "grip it and rip it" without fear of instantly breaking traffic laws. Kawasaki has not changed the design of these bikes in 20+ years of production and they are 100% correct for doing that IMO. Haters can hate, but these bikes are un-killable and will run 100k+ miles with simple maintenance. You can buy excellent condition used models for under $5k anywhere in the country. Sometimes under $3k depending on where you are. If you aren't brand picky... Vulcans offer a sweet bike for the money. Lots of smiles per mile and low $ per mile.

bought my '08 VN900D LT 4 years ago in Florida with 23,000 miles excellent condition for $2,250.00 and shipped it back to my home in Michigan. Been a fantastic ride. Bought a bunch of chrome for it and a Tach. Love it!

love it when it turns out this simple. A Spark tester is an invaluable inexpensive tool. Gap model or the glowing light model (USD$10.00 AUD 16.00 from most autoparts stores) It should be in every tool box along with a test light and a multimeter. You can use on the car, lawn mower, bike, any ICE vehicle, and saves guessing on coils or CDI right off the bat.

I'd love to see all those videos too! I noticed in this one however, once the engine fired up,and as you were revving it,I kept seeing light "smoke" being expelled above the rear-cylinder starting at the 10:11 time, which immediately made me think of an exhaust gas leak coming from that pipe on the rear-cylinder!?!? Anyway,Great video Cody! : >)

Glad you enjoyed it! Nope there is nothing wrong with the exhaust. That is just dust and particles burning off the face of the pipe as it gets hot. You see it all the time when firing up old bikes that have been sitting for a while. Or new ones!

I'd like to see the vids, too. I have a tiny piece of advice from an old fart to a good young mechanic: When I'm sticking a spark plug down a deep hole like that, I have an old piece of 3/8 fuel line in my tool chest that I stick the plug into one end and then use that to poke it down the hole to start the threads. You won't drop the plug out like some sockets, and just about zero chance of crossthreading it. Wrench on, my friend. And keep the great content coming.

These videos are so helpful. I have a Suzuki Boulevard C50, which is practically the same bike as this VN900. I look forward to having some reference videos using this bike to guide my maintenance with the C50. I have already performed all the maintenance and upgrades you listed in your video on the C50, but I would love to see how you do it. I would like to see a clutch cable adjustment video on this bike. I also maintain an 18 year old Honda Shadow Saber 1100, which is the exact same model that is in many of your videos. Thanks to your videos, especially your carbonator videos, that bike, which was running rough, is now in tip top shape.

If you cut a piece of fuel tubing and slip it over the plug you reach those deep sparkling holes and just pull the hose off.

Don't matter, anything to kick it off will work. Not like your riding it down the road spraying it to keep it running.
