No end to your talents Jared! I asked an older lady why they did these stack pies and she said they had big crowds to feed and only one or two pans so they stacked them. Around our parts they would make different flavors and stack them, blackberry and peach. I had never seen them in person though.

That sounds right to me. Id say it took a lot of pies for these big families too. A lady i know makes about 30 of these every holiday

So thankful to you for posting this video!! My beautiful sweet lil aunt passed away last year and I was blessed by her two sons two of her old timey pie pans that she once told me were over 80 years old. She made these pies all the time, especially around the holidays as gifts for friends and family and they were the absolute best. She always said she would teach me how to make them to just give her a holler, but I never wanted to bother her so I never did. Boy, how I wish I would have purchased those few ingredients and dropped by to watch her precious hands work their magic and soak up all of her beautiful old timey knowledge about everything under the sun. Time is short and precious. I miss my time with her so much!! Thank you for this! I will definitely be giving this a try with our fresh apples from the tree. Many blessings to you!!

My Grandma lived in the mountains of North Carolina and she made the best stack apple pies in the world! Her's were so thin less than an inch thick and she would stack them 8-10 high. Awesome memories!

This takes me back to my youth, I can remember my Mother and Grandmother would have stack cakes made up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Fried apple pies were common also and both used lard. Seems like they both used some cinnamon and or nutmeg to help flavor them. Sadly both are gone on and I haven't had a stack cake or fried apple pies in a long time. Thanks for taking this ole Kentucky guy back in time.

For all my decades of pie making, I’ve never seen a pie crust recipe made with self-rising flour...it certainly looks easy to work with. As handy as you are, I bet you could make that fluted pie tin. Regular people make things from tin, still. They're usually making ducts, but I bet you couold make 'em, and sell 'em. You'd need to figure out a way to scallop the edge. I bet you're the one to do it, if it can be done.

Looks yummy, hey just to let anyone now, shortening is really bad for you. It's been linked to cancer & heart problems. Lard is a lot healthier, but only if you eat right.
