Your old conversion/paint guide on these guys was how I first found your channel, cool to see you come back to them and try something new! :D

For being upscaled 15mm minis, they look pretty good in the standard 40k scale. I own a ton of the original steel legion minis but these guys keep the proportions and style of the OG minis way better than a lot of the alternatives I see floating around

Yeah, I couldn't get over how much detail was crammed into the smaller sculpts so that they'd scale up reasonably effectively. Certainly once you've got an army of them on the table, those little bits and pieces that aren't perfect would disappear to the eye.

Brilliant video! Great to see how you work with applying contrast paints

Big fan of speed paints/contrasts and getting models onto the table easily! Thanks for the video!

Had some of these way back, when they first came out. The 3d prints look even nicer than the originals. I'd almost get back into painting 40k with these boys.

I think the resin prints being a little smoother than metal surfaces, even after a primer, definitely helps the look on them.

Mate , these look great - as a teenager way back when I struggled so hard to paint these coats with limited resources and skill. Seeing this makes me want to revisit as I have many of these sweet models. And the sentinels too!

Fantastic timing on this! I'm in the process of getting some of the classic metals cleaned and assembled. Knowing that I need to snag some Aggaros Dunes is gonna save me a lot of headache when I'm ready to paint.

I have not been too interested in the Contrast paints but the figures look good. I think the Steel Legion figures are a good subject for the Contrast paints. Thanks for sharing this.

I followed that citadel guide to paint cadians with aggaros dunes when I started collecting warhammer in 8th edition! Because they were the first miniatures I ever painted and I had never used contrast before, the aggaros dunes and creed camo were all so horribly blotchy! I wish I had started with normal acrylic paints, and I've slowly been stripping and repainting my cadians over the years. I also definitely would have used skeleton horde instead of aggaros dunes if I had known it existed, but I was just starting out. I really like contrast/speed paints as well, but it's like you said in your video on painting the old plastic cadian sculpts with contrast paints, they just don't cover well over the flat surfaces like their shoulder pads. I even had a leman russ painted with contrast paints that I sponged on. It's been painted over with castellan green and zandri dust, except for a spot on the bottom of the chassis for posterity.

I bougth that files a while ago, they are incredible even at 28mm specially now that you dont see that many SL oficial models and you can basically get anything from banners to medics and all

I really want to see a basing tutorial. I love your painting videos and reference them all the time for my Bolt Action work. My downside is basing, and it is a process I see you skip time and time again. I want to know!

Vallejo has a "military and yellow" Xpress paint that always seemed ideal for the Steel Legion.
@horatio_20 күн бұрын
Gents, what Vallejo Xpress would you say is a one coat for US Airborne models like the ones just released for battle of bulge

Thanks for scale percentage, i have these guys and i was wondering if upscaling them to 28mm was a good idea.

Desperate to find a printer for these upscaled 15mm guys. All I can find is the files to buy, but I don't have a printer :(

Try looking for maker spaces near you. Usually the staff there helps with printing as well
