I've used things from my freezer and pantry heavily this month. I'm hoping to continue to use what I have,working on meal plans for the first two weeks of February.

Good for you! I am definitely going to try and keep using my freezer more too going forward. I am just ready to shop sales again...

Yes I keep bacon grease in a mason jar in the refrigerator. Both of my grandmothers saved bacon grease in a mug but kept the mug near the stove & didn’t refrigerate it. I enjoyed seeing the meals you prepared from last week. I am making progress using items from my freezer. Last night I made chicken pot pie using frozen mixed vegetables, pie dough from freezer, chicken from freezer & made a white sauce.

That sounds delicious! And interesting! Yes, I refrigerate my bacon grease too. 👍

You’re doing so great! One more week to go. I can’t wait to hear if you’re going to make this an annual tradition? I was hooked after surviving the first year. The second time was so much easier.

It's been a good challenge! We'll see if I make this an annual challenge or not. I haven't decided yet. Stay tuned!

Yes I save my bacon grease in a mason jar! I use it to grease my pans depending on what I’m making. But I use it for biscuits, meats, potatoes, eggs, etc.

Glad I am not the only one saving it! 👍

Fun video, the sheet pan pancake looks so good, you can really customize them to everyone’s taste! That is definitely on my list for this week, and the monster cookies, yum.

Yes! Caleb has become a huge blueberry pancake fan - because of the sheet cake pancakes! I hope you enjoy them too!

I love all your videos. I am retired and the kids are all grown up and living on their own. We still have a prepping pantry and are glad to have it. When I shop I follow my list but if my husband goes with me he breaks my budget to buy snacks. lol men like their snacks. I’m like you and try to buy everything on sale. Love seeing your kids in the videos. I wish when my kids were little we would have had videos like yours. Thank you

I know exactly what you mean about the husbands and snacks! 🤣 And yes! Shopping the sales is such a great way to save money - and I enjoy it! I try to stick to my list too...unless I find a really good unadvertised sale! 😉

Just made french fries the other day. Very time consuming. We usually blanche them for 5 minutes, put them in ice cold water for a few minutes,dry them off, and put them in vacuum sealed bags and put them into the freezer. Then we airfry another day with olive oil and spices. So good.

That's a great idea to blanch and then vacuum seal! But yes, very time consuming - but very good!

@joyfullythriving4 күн бұрын
I could continue (because I still have lots in my freezer!) but I am ready to get back to my normal KZbin content, so probably not! If I DO continue the challenge, I will simply keep you posted in my regular grocery haul videos! I am glad you have enjoyed the different videos though!

Put all the money you saved in an Egg Fund. They may be as high as $9 per dozen, with no end in sight. Also, you're right that there haven't been many good specials this month on restock items.
@joyfullythriving4 күн бұрын
Eek. I certainly hope egg prices don't go that high, but it does seem like they keep going up! 🤯

I microwave bacon so no grease to collect😢. Do you thaw the soup in the jar before microwaving? That sheet pan pancake looked delicious 😊
@joyfullythriving4 күн бұрын
I do try to thaw the soup before microwaving. Occasionally I forget and I have thawed it from frozen but I stir it more regularly as I warm it up.

I had chemo as well, lost my hair. Hair came back curly. Take it one day at a time. I had 12 weeks of chemo, surgery and a year of follow up infusions. Lean on the Lord, He never leaves you or forsakes you. I am most blessed…learned many things I would never have learned any other way. Blessings!
