Bri your videos are so relaxing to watch. I’m learning a lot. I’m impressed with your ability to use a smoker. I can use a grill but I’ve never tried a smoker.

It's a pellet smoker, so it's super easy to use, I think even easier than a grill and it gives everything the best flavor!

Hello, you gave me such great ideas with this pantry challenge and today was no exception! You can tell just by the look on your face that you cook with love! I jotted down some of the items that you canned, my list is getting pretty long, that i want to try to can. The bbq sauce you used today is one of them. Thank you for all the time you share with us and sharing your lovely family! Have a wonderful week!

My Mom always cooked with us and I love seeing Mom’s cooking with their children. I have such great memories of this, and I appreciate it even more now that my Mom is gone.

My husband wasn't on board with me getting meat birds neither, but he caved in when I said we could try just a dozen and process them as needed. Well, I was a softy and a couple of them made it to almost a year because I got somewhat too attached. By then, they were so big we couldn't fit them in two gallon bags! In my opinion, they are not hard to process except for the attachment factor (I'm a sucker!) Without a doubt, the meat was delicious and it was really nice to know that even though they had a short life, they got to live much longer and more important much better than commercial meat birds. However, meat chickens are rather prone to health problems (heart attacks, etc.) since all they do is eat, poop, and sleep. They don't like to move around so I had my water and food sources on opposite ends of the run and moved them in between. Since they grow at a rapid pace, their legs often cannot support their weight and will then rest on their breasts which can cause sores. Again, this can be prevented by making sure they have to move around and by keeping their run clean. Roosters will mount the hens which can become an additional source of injury to the legs with the additional weight but that is only if you let them run longer than four months. Most people process them at twelve weeks.

We raise our own chicken. We raise and process 3 times a year about 25 birds each time. Its definitely work but so worth it. Chicken pieces, whole birds for roasting, bone broth.

How do you get your rice to be so separated? Mine is ALWAYS sticky...

I just saute it with a little fat, butter, olive oil, bacon grease - one of those until it's slightly golden. In my instant pot I do equal parts rice and water, use the rice button, and quick release. It's perfect every time!
