I have tried to make my grandmother’s roast 20 or so times. I didn’t have a recipe, so was going my trial an error. I had given up, and haven’t tried to make a roast in years. We bought some beef from a friend and it included one roast. I wanted to try to make a good one. I tried this video. This was the best roast I have ever made. One of the things I most enjoy about your cooking is that when things don't go exactly as you planned you just move on and don't grief yourself about it and don't guilt us about it. You give us the freedom to be cooks and feed our families and not stress about stuff. It's how it tastes. It's whether you have fun making it. Please keep doing what you're doing. It means a lot to a lot of us. Especially now. Thanks to you and your family. ❤️🙏

When I was a young cook I tried to make my pot roast taste just like my grandma's tasted. I called her and asked her how to do it and made it exactly like she said but it just didn't taste like hers. Years later I bought a cast iron pan and one day used it to make grandma's pot roast. That was it. The pan made all the difference. Thanks for taking me back to a good memory.

Since I come overseas, I start to do my pot roast with these fancy pot/slow cookers because on the island, we do it on the stove top in a Dutch pot. That is how my grandmother taught me to roast beef. Sear all sides in oil first and then keep adding one cup of water and flip until tender. Usual takes about 4 hours, but being overseas, I dont have the time to be over the stove for that long, but I miss doing it that way because it is me doing the cooking and not just the pot/slow cooking only.
