ANNETTE M. VOSS not all pigments work as true primaries. So through the series of these color mixing videos I’m hoping to help my community understand something called color bias or undertone. And that’s why sometimes when you make it to primaries you don’t get the color you expect because there is a hidden bias in one of the colors. In this particular case there is a hidden bias of yellow in the red. There’s also a hidden bias of yellow or more specifically green in the blue. This creates Hidden primary colors within these two. If you’re watch the Brown video you’ll notice that if you mix all three primaries you get brown. I have a video that really explains this called a split primary color wheel. But mostly it’s my acrylic April people who watch it. So I’m trying to come at this from a different angle. In future color mixes you’ll see sometimes you can get purple but not green or not a bright green. Depending on the pigment. We’re going to review Several in by the end of it I expect everyone who takes part in this journey to really understand not just the color wheel which at its heart is theory. But the hard practice of pigment. Which is more real when we’re actually painting. I’m glad this video got you thinking about that. And I hope you like the next one

Could you please also make this video with different blue than phthalo blue like either ultramarine, cobalt,prussian blues. Really looking forward.

Thank you for this, and I'm off to practice! I'm confused though, as i was told to get the primary red, blue and yellow (and i got black and white :), as all other colours (like cad red etc) had a colour bias and would affect the colour mixes. Either way i think what you did is important for me to go and play, thank you again Btw, I just tried all the Amazon links and all paints are unavailable

Chart whatever colors you have to know how they mix! Ideally you would have cool and warm biased paints in each primary color for mixing. Ultimately unless you have the exact pigments Sherpa uses your paints won't mix the same. Cad red hue isn't cad red, etc. Always chart your paints.
@paulakerman23714 жыл бұрын
@@Maddie-eg3ss I was going to do this, but i am just learning about colour mixing and previously saw a video about colours that aren't primary (cad red etc) would have a colour bias and would mix weirdly. It was just a question in ignorance, and i will see what results i get :-)
@Maddie-eg3ss4 жыл бұрын
@@paulakerman2371 I was amazed at my results from charting. I keep my chart by me when I'm painting the sherpas tutorials and sometimes don't use the colors she does by name because I know my pigments aren't the same as hers and won't mix the same. It's soooo useful!

Not true Card red and phthalo blue ( green shade ) in student paints you may because sometimes what they call cad is really naphthol. I think that can make painting harder for people so I wanted to start this series and go pigment by pigment so no more primary traps get people
