This is the way I've been doing the placemats, ever since I found I make a mess of binding! Glad to see I haven't broken any "quilter's rules" by doing it this way! Thanks for the video and the affirmation!

I made a couple of placemats using this technique and I switched the main fabric to the back fabric so that i didn't have the seam edge on the main side. Love it. Thank you Tamara. Love from Northern British Columbia, Canada

I have made so many of these placemats. It is by far my favorite because although they are easy they turn out absolutely beautiful. I also made a table runner using the same technique and it turned out great! Thank you!

I would like to see how you sewed the binding with the machine. I’m not confident to do this yet. I will try this method tho. It’s pretty straight forward. I usually hand stitch the binding only because I’m not sure about seating by machine lol
