Easy Red Refights in PokeMMO - Gen 3

Just tried this team for my weelky Red's fight. It took me 3 tries. Drill Run failed on the first use on each 2 first tries, and since my Substitute got killed by Metagross, Pikachu used Extreme Speed to kill my Cloyster. I don't know if the AI will always use Extreme Speed when Cloyster don't have a Substitute, maybe I'll try to not Sub the next time to see ! Exept in this rare case, it works perfectly on the third try, because Drill Run don't failed ! Thanks dude !

Crazy unlucky missing drill run 2 times in a row! I've never had pikachu extreme speed mine so that's interesting! I often skip sub also and just rely on the 95% accuracy. Could be since my cloyster has 31 in defenses, maybe that discourages the ai from using it? Sorry for your luck, but glad it worked for you in the end!

This one will beat gens 2-4 but you will need a different setup for gen 1 and 5! The gen 4 is a different setup so you can see my video for that one if you come across it!

Working on it! I haven't got the gen 5 team since I started making videos. I just got gen 1 though and worked out a new strat for that which is super simple! That video will be coming next friday. Hopefully I get gen 5 next week too

12/01/2025 22:25 i can confirm still works i'll paste something from a comment i answer but just read if u have dificulty . I can confirm it does work i've been using for the last two months, you might have something wrong eitheir a move or IV on your pokemon I've used the whole time the metragross from E4 reruns as lead with Jolly nature 5x31 and this move set: Trick, stealth rock , earthquake & thundr punch , my cloyster is 4x31 + 25 on spdef adamant nature , move set : icicle spear , drill run , shell smash , sub . You might have a diferent meta or cloyster with lower ivs , you're using a wrong move or wrong item or you're not using sub on cloyster/trick on metagross or your cloyster is not skill link . The only trouble i had with this run is when i miss drill run , because if i miss drill run , pikachu will extreme speed and kill cloyster without sub same occurs if you use two icicle spear on metagross and kill him but you lose your sub pikachu will use extreme speed and kill u

Nah, this doesn't work for me! Red always switches out from swampert to his metagross after I bring in cloyster. I have the same IVs & nature on the metagross as well.

@@JinxedBoon I think I figured this out! You MUST have drill run on cloyster, I only had sub. If you don't have the DR, Metagross might switch in since it sees no super-effective moves against it. Also, Swampert used scald against my max def (impish) metagross but it was able to trick twice and survive. It used EQ the 2nd time. Maybe there is a small chance the swampert AI always uses scald, or is it because of the evs/Ivs of metagross?

​@nonjabiznas Check your builds because this is a super consistent run. Might be if you have super budget mons it doesn't work but if you have decent ones it works perfectly

The build is fine. You're just wrong, and multiple people have confirmed it doesn't work anymore. You need to swallow your pride and just admit to being wrong.

It works perfectly, it's just that out of frustration from trying it several times you say it doesn't work, better check the pokemon before commenting on something so stupid bro.
