Easy Salt & Pepper Squid | Exploring Lincoln National Park

I finish off another rod, this one is called the Hezza Slaya and will be put to test very soon hopefully! We get out in the Tinny for a bit of a trek around the bay to try and find some tucka. The South Oz KG's are still playing hard ball and we just can't get a decent feed since Smokey Bay way back.
I get back into my addiction of trying to master Salt & Pepper Squid cooking and almost have nailed it... 8.5 out of 10 I reckon.

1teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice in a cup of milk makes butter milk

Either of us don't drink milk so harder to come by, if it was a game changer I'd stock it but the lemon juice and water pre-soak worked better which is awesome

That rock is a beauty 😂😂 I remember Someone did warn you about the itech dcdc before you bought it 🤔😂 I found the lack of a proper float cycle was so frustrating !

Geez guys, Have ya told Barry that your liv'n the dream 🤣🤣🤣 How'd ya find the lemon on the squid, did it start to cook it, perfect match anyway lemon and any salt water delicacy goes hand in hand 👍👍👍 I have in the past tried some nice fish fillets , foiled up with a mix of herbs and a tonn of lemon / juice and I purposely left it longer knowing that the lemon will start the cooking process, best fish I have ever had, give it ago 👍👍👍 Cheers Andy 🍺🍺🍺

Haha cheers Andy! 🍻 You mix lemon and water, doesn't seem to cook the squid more tenderise it but surprisingly you don't get any lemon flavours once cooked also. I have done lemon and lime juice with baked fish, works bloody lovely hey! Throw in a few slices of tomato 👌👌

Hi jed you can make your own butter milk just add lemon juice to full cream milk gail does enough to the amount she needs

Arrr rodgee mate! Good to know! We actually don't drink milk so we rarely have it on hand. I did find just using a lemon juice worked and tasted better, so a bit of a win! Cheers Tom 🍻

Cheers Craig, yeah you can do that also but as far as I know the dcdc can do that also so I just didn't want to use or have both. End of year I'll be doing a fair few upgrades to the system hopefully.

@@oldmate_adventures Ok yes if you got a 4wd with a big output alternator its fine, Our old 80 series alt Can only handle a 20 amp DCDC charger so I run a seperate Mppt Controller for the 250 watt second hand house Panel on the roof rack it gives around 11amps as well as the DcDc putting in, that way I have back up for remoter areas,

Yeah mate found a fair few around, used a few for bait but didn't end up trying them to eat.
