Thanks everyone for taking the time to check out the final update on the abandoned building tutorial. You can view the main build here kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2HSdo2DpZ6mpZY for the building itself. This was a really fun build and I'm stoked with the result. If you have any questions about the build, just leave a comment below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Cheers.

I really like that there is someone else that looks for different uses for everyday things at the hardware store. Nice go, man.

Thanks mate. There's lots of great stuff out there to be repurposed, I'm always looking for new bits and pieces that will work as scale building materials. Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment.

The rails and fire escape add a lot of realism to the model. The techniques are great and I learned quite a bit from this tutorial. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks John. I really enjoyed this one too. I appreciate the comment mate.

I must remember to pick up some of that gutter guard, next time I'm at the hardware store. Seems very useful!
@RFDHobby3 жыл бұрын
It has some uses for sure, this one for the guard rails was surprisingly effective :) . Thanks for watching mate.
@Jeffs40K3 жыл бұрын
hardware stores here have a metal wire like your gutter guard here as well, used for small cages for rabbits etc.
@RFDHobby3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I looked for a wire version of this locally and couldn't find it. A thin wire would probably even work better than this plastic stuff, but this gets you out of a jam I suppose. Thanks for watching.

quality work as always Shawn, the way you go about buildings these projects makes it very easy to follow.

Oh, nice build. The only thing I would add would be a couple of ladder width strips of matchstick on the wall, so the ladder could be glued to that as a support rather than being flush against the brickwork.Minimal extra work, just a bit of extra 3 dimensionality. That plasterer's tape is a good find, cheaper and more versatile than the car body repair mesh sheets.
@RFDHobby3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I might actually add the matchsticks as you suggest, these still annoy me a bit as they are, and that sounds like a perfect solution.

You should see if you can make a Tommy Wiseau mini on Heroforge to stand by the stairway on the roof. "I did not hit her! I did naaht! Oh hai Mark!"

Great stuff! This is basically the plastic version of hardware cloth, I must go and find some. There are times when this would be much easier to work with.
@RFDHobby4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeah this stuff was great to work with, and I'm sure it's going to come in handy down the track for more builds. Thanks for the comment.

Man! You are killing it with these builds. That fire escape is awesome! I have to admit...I'm not sure i'm a fan of the fake bricks, lol. I think I would take the time to hand carve them up. Or, like many crazy people nowadays, actually lay them tiny bricks against cardboard/foam core! (seriously, those people are crazy people, lol!). Looking forward to more!
@RFDHobby4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeah, the printed bricks is a definite trade off, and I'm not completely sold on it either, except when comes to getting the scale just right. Looking at a realistic scale house brick for 28mm, they honestly would need to be in the 2-3mm size range, which is just crazy to think about doing individually. I do agree oversizing them and doing them individually gives a much more detailed and 3 dimensional look though, this is just an option for fast tracking some brick walls for builds I guess. Someone suggested printing them on matte 'textured' paper gives a much more realistic finish, rather than this semi gloss look going on here. Might have to try that and see. Thanks so much for the comment!

Awesome!! I am new to your channel. Do you have a tutorial on how you made the stairs? I love your work!
@RFDHobby2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, if you mean the stairs on the front of this building, then I think you can see how I did this in this video here if I remember correctly... kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2HSdo2DpZ6mpZY I do have another tutorial for stairs, but it's quite a bit different from these, you can check that one out here if you're interested... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZbEo4OdlL51oKc Thank you for watching and commenting, happy to help if you have any other questions. Cheers.

what were the dimensions for the floors? I think it was 10cm x 4cm ?
@RFDHobby4 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, the dimensions were 10cm x 5cm for the floor pieces here. Hope that helps mate.
