Everyone complaining about the cake leftovers, hey guys you don't have to throw it away... you still can eat them as they are or reinvolve them into other sweet recipes... it's not a waste at all....
@rachkate767 жыл бұрын
Exactly! As Joshua John Russell calls it: garbage cake, but the crew eats it or he turns the excess into cake pops.

Beautiful your cake. But why did you put buttercream on the surface and on the sides if you were going to model each cake at the end?
@MyraL4257 жыл бұрын
Clara Andretto I was thinking the exact same thing!
@Rosiesdessertspot7 жыл бұрын
lol I did this anyway because the crumbcoat still helps to keep the cake still as you cut. It sort of acts as a casing at the beginning. You can still do it without the crumbcoat anyway, it was just a preference of mine :)

Can I skip the crumb coat in the first steps? I just feel like there's buttercream frosting being used that isn't necessary... Thoughts?
@PrincessPaiige937 жыл бұрын
namaeg I’m a cake make and decorator, I own my own business, if you’re planning to cover a cake with just buttercream then your cake will look a hot mess if there’s no crumb coat to lock in the crumbs so the crumbs will appear in your final layer! If your cover a cake with fondant then again you will need a crumb coat because crumbs under fondant isn’t a good look and you will never get a smooth finish! So all in all I say a crumb coat is necessary, if you do it correctly then its only a very thin layer of buttercream!
@Rosiesdessertspot7 жыл бұрын
Hi Namaeg, although the crumbcoat is being chopped off, it actually helps to keep the cake together initially / makes the cake more stable so cutting is easier. It may not seem like it, but it does make a difference in the process ;) thank you so much for watching and for your comment!

Why do you do a full crumb coat BEFORE you trim down the sides? Seems like an unnecessary waste of time and buttercream.
@Rosiesdessertspot7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennie, even though we are cutting it off, it does help to keep the cake together and makes it easier to trim :) however thin the coating is, it does add stability. Thanks for watching!
