Okay this is why i am looking at everyone else's van builds. Seriously, this is a great way to get some extra shelving space without heavier wood.

I just wanted to thank you George for the design of the overhead rack. I finished mine today building it into a 2018 PW Plateau TS and it works flawlessly.
@HumbleRoad6 жыл бұрын
That's great to hear! Did you end up wrapping or weaving the shelf in any way or did you go for the clean high ventilation wire look? You will be amazed at just how much stuff you can store up there, and it was so easy to build, right?
@paulharris14656 жыл бұрын
Weaving all the way!! Love the material you found at...The Depot. The gray material makes it quieter and keeps things from bouncing. A little hot-glue on the ends was perfect. It was easy but then you did all the hard work designing and I am grateful. btw, my wife and I love your videos! We are getting ready to do the shower next. I noticed Pleasure-Way is putting a larger sink in their 2019 models. You should do a little consulting for them. Thank you so much for your ideas and videos. Paul

Oh you are going to love the larger shower! It works perfectly! Some have said the filming wasn't wide enough to see exactly how it was done. If you have any questions, please ask! I am happy to help. You can get my email on my webpage; humbleroad.tv Good Luck!

Thank you Mary Kay. Several of my viewers have installed this shelf in their vans, following my video. They all said it was just as easy as the video depicts and they love the extra storage! If you have any questions or problems, PLEASE reach out to me and I will be happy to assist! Geo.

Have watched both parts about eleventy-hundred times and made some screen shots to study. Visited Lowes and looked at all the parts needed. They carry RubberMaid brand, but seems to be about the same system overall. We'll be off to the store to gather the goodies and add a shelf to the Ascent this week. Will keep it bare bones to start so we can add a few hooks to hang a small lantern for boondocking and maybe a small 12v fan as well. We will keep you posted on how it works for your tool-adverse friend. Must remember: the hammer is the thing you hit stuff with and the screwdriver is the thing you twist around and around ... right?

By George! The music you choose for your videos, and the projects that you so skilfully design and build are certainly a credit to you. Nevertheless, I must also add: some of your facial expressions along with certain parts of your speech reminds me of Al Pacino. Indeed your videos are worthy of Hollywood! I just had to subscribe to your channel for the enjoyment of all that you offer. Cheers mate, and keep up the excellent work!!

Would it be a good idea to drill or cut a small hole in the larger L-bracket directly below and matching the small tab of the coat-hook mounting bracket, instead on flattening out the tab. That way the coat-hook will not twist later when using it after the installation. Also in the empty hole of that L-bracket, you could put a plastic plug to cover it and make it look more professional. The smaller L-bracket is making the handle sit away from the fabric liner. Can you carefully notch the handle on that side to remedy the stand out. It will look more professional, as well. Painting at several times seems to be time consuming since no one likes to watch paint dry. Paint the L-brackets, the shelf struts (if necessary to match), the plastic plug (mentioned above), and possibly the screw heads all at the same time.

I know this is an old video, but I am trying to do with with our 2022 2500 and the front brackets do not sit flat, as the sunshade shelf as a bulb on the screw hole that fits into the headliner recess that is cutout. Did you run into this? thanks

I am giving this a try. I can’t get the small bracket behind the handgrip. It feels like something back there is in the way. Before I yank harder, did anybody else experience this? I have a 2018 sprinter.
@philipmcclure62735 жыл бұрын
I love this idea, but I see that my 2006 PW Plateau does NOT have the bolt attachments for this mod. I found this out when I inspected my van and also when I noticed that the "Sprinter Van Headliner Shelf" you mentioned early in your DIY is for years 2007-2018 only. Is there an alternative so that I can use this space for my Alaskan adventure? Thanks in advance.

Why does the 4' bracket have to be mounted on the outside of the pillar trim plastic. Anything keeping it from being mounted on the inside ??
@HumbleRoad7 жыл бұрын
Initially, I wanted that big 4 inch bracket behind the plastic sheathing. But I needed to exert more stress on the piece than I felt was prudent. Part of my credo is being able to undo my modifications with little to no marring to the van.

I agree, Patty. And an unforeseen benefit of the carpet is that I can attach ANYTHING to it with velcro! I have a first aid kit sitting upside down hanging like a bat! VELCRO! :-)
