Did you have to remove all the freon from your system prior to swapping the compressor? I have to swap mines on my 02` Bugeye soon
@SubaruONLY2 жыл бұрын
Yep, unfortunelty you do need to drain and refill the Freon…which is def a pain in the ass!!!

I just spent so many hours trying to get the last AC compressor bolt out, frustration was high so I turned to beers, and for whatever reason "throw a 12 milly on that mofo" really had me rolling

It’s a lot but here’s the back story... I have a couple friends that have never done any mechanical work, really not even very comfortable changing the oil, which is totally cool cause we all started there ourselves - ie knowing next to nothing. I realized, even that friend could pull an engine with someone walking him through every step, literally showing them every little nut and bolt, how to remove it, and why. So I was like, f it, I’m make this ultra detailed series to walk any skill level through this process. Why not, then at the end of it all, we’ll have every step there as a resource for all to use. Also, every Subaru is so similar that this should be very helpful for anyone with any model!

How do I remove ac compressor if the compressor lines have freon?
@SubaruONLY3 жыл бұрын
Unbolt from the block, but keep the lines attached and just set the unit to the side. Should allow all the room needed. If you need to completely pull the compressor, have to discharge the Freon, no other way.

@@SubaruONLY yeah I figured I can just put it to the side after I unmount the AC compressor when I watched the rest of the videos, appreciate these videos they're super detailed and helpful

What belt tensioner gauge do you use when installing the belts? Or do you just measure it with thumb pressure?

First - awesome videos! Using this playlist to remove my first subaru engine on my swapped 1998 wagon. Question - how do you remove the pipes (low pressure side and line from the drier unit) that go into the FIREWALL? See kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2XOmKFrrtWXgq8 - for visual. My next approach (from research) is to hit them with WD40 and twist to come off - no bolts holding them on. I'm trying to avoid glove box removal to see if they are attached from the interior. Thanks and keep up the videos!
