Thank You so SO so much for this recipe. And for Your great work on this channel. My cookies came out picture perfect. I am so impressed by the result. No spreading whatsoever. Also it was easy to eyeball the baking time. Thank You for such a fabulous recipe. Also it was really helpful that You were showing the consistency, the thickness, etc. Your tips were so helpful as well. I never could bake a pretty cookie before. Your channel is awesome!!! ❤ 🍪🌸 *Also a tip from me for Your subscribers - I made the dough, chilled for 2 hours, cut out the cookies and put them in the fridge overnight. Then I’m the morning I put them STRAIGHT in the oven on the same baking sheet they were on (so it was cold). And my cookies were perfect. This is for people like me, who didn’t have enough time to do it in one day and were wondering if chilling dough overnight would affect the result (it doesn’t)

I’m so glad to see you use REAL BUTTER ,it makes a difference. However, I am surprised you don’t have any almond extract in your cookie. I’ve found that it works well with and enhances the flavor in the cookie. The only time I don’t use it is when I know someone has a nut allergy. In that case I will usually add another flavor besides vanilla. The reason I do this is because the royal icing doesn’t have much flavor. SoI will usually add nice flavor to the cookie or the icing. I even add earl gray tea, orange or rose water, or champagne flavoring. It makes keeps people scratching their heads wondering what’s in it, but craving more. The problem with flavorings is that you need to be careful with how much you add. Adding too much can make your cookies taste like a bottle of perfume🤣😂😆. The best way to add flavor but play it safe is to add lemon or orange zest to your cookies. It adds and interesting little hint of flavor people love. What other flavors do you suggest? Do you have a chocolate sugar cookie recipe? If so I’d love to see it. Another GREAT video😁👍

@CookieliciousNZ6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lori-Jean, this recipe will create a nice soft cookie, my family doesn't like the crispy ones so I always try to make delicious soft cookies for them as the royal icing on top provides that crunchy elements needed for the cookie, hope that helps 😉💖👍
@85HannaH196 жыл бұрын
Quick side question, could you bake for a few mins longer to crunch them up a bit?, Or is the icing enough to get that?, I'm a very novice baker, and for the life of me I've tried making sugar cookies on and off for years, with horrible results, I'm trying yours as they look the nicest I've seen , waiting the 30 mins in bowl wrapped cling film, dough tastes amazing raw and looks just like yours so far So hope I can do it as I've got so many cookie cutters that I never get to use 😂😂
@CookieliciousNZ6 жыл бұрын
hey sweetie, you can try baking the cookies a bit longer if you like crispier cookies...I would suggest keeping watch and see if you can spot the edges browning out then I would take them out of the oven and let them continue to bake a bit further on the baking sheet outside of the oven. Bear in mind that the royal icing will also give it a bit more crunch and they are so yummy together once you have finished the who process of baking and decorating 😁😋 I'm really hopeful that you'll get a really nice result with your cookies! You can do this! I have full confidence in you! 👍😊 let me know how you go...I'm rooting for you from all the way in New Zealand LOL 😄😍🙌

@CookieliciousNZ5 жыл бұрын
Hi Yvette, apology for the delay in responding, life has gotten really hectic these days. I always make my cookies ahead of time, the day before is not ideal as you will be too rushed. I usually make my cookies a couple of weeks before the event, as the decorating process will take several days depending on the complexity of the design. For some tricky designs sometimes i like to wait overnight depending on my schedule so I like to take my time and get it done right. While you are waiting for the icing to dry during the decorating process, it will act as a protective layer on the cookie.The completed decorated cookies will last for a few weeks as i always heat-sealed them individually to maintain freshness. Or if you want to make them wayyy ahead of time you can always freeze them and take them out the day before the event to thaw out.
@misstang015 жыл бұрын
Oh it's ok, I totally understand! This is my first go at making/decorating cookies, so I don't know all the rules that comes with this process. Thank you for letting me know. Therefore, I don't have to Chill my dough in the fridge over and over, just 1 time and around 15 minutes before I'm baked it🤭 and the shape is still good. Anyway, Pardon me if my English is sucks, I'm still learning it🙏🏻 Love from Indonesia😘

Halo Astri, wah ternyata bisa juga yah bikin resep ini gak pake mixer....bagus deh kalo bisa, aku gak pernah coba karena kalo aku bikin cookie dough tuh sekalian banyak jadi bisa copot tangan kalo gak pake mixer hahaha 😅😁 Thank you for letting me know that you can bake the recipe without using a mixer! I'm so glad the shape hold really well! Warm greetings from New Zealand! Ps: Aku dari Indonesia juga tapi sudah lama tinggal di New Zealand 😉💖🙌

I was wondering. If I had a big order and needed to store them to be “fresh” what could I do?
@CookieliciousNZ5 жыл бұрын
I would store them in the freezer in flat layers (rolled the dough in between baking papers) inside an airtight container 😉👍
@priscillatorres33145 жыл бұрын
Cookielicious NZ would this work even after the cookies were baked? If so how long would I need for them to defrost?
@CookieliciousNZ5 жыл бұрын
What i usually do if I want to store the baked cookies inside the freezer I would heat-sealed them individually in a cellophane bag and them put them into airtight container, that would prevent the freezer burn on the cookies. The shelf life of the cookies are suspended while they are in the freezer. When you want to use the cookies, take them out of the container and let it thaw on your kitchen bench for about 30-60mins (do not open the cellophane bag until the cookies are completely defrosted), once they have thawed/defrosted you are ready to decorate 🙂

A tip, to bring a fridge egg to room temp quickly, add it to a cup of warm (not hot) water for about 5 minutes!

@Janelle Mcfarlane Hi hun, a few people have posted in the comments sections after they try the recipe, feel free to scroll thru and have a quick browse before testing the recipe 😉👍💖 Oh just bear in mind that this recipe produce a soft cookies and not the crunchy ones, my family loves the soft sugar cookies so that's what i usually make 😁💖💞
@wivianamaral63574 жыл бұрын
@Janelle Mcfarlane I made the recipe as close as possible, but each all purpose flour has an absorption property, for the brand I used I needed to put a little more flour. The cookie was extremely delicious, so I highly recommend the recipe. I rarely follow recipes, because when we have a sense of cooking, we can change the recipe a little bit.

I absolutely love the flavour and texture of these cookies- definitely keeping the recipe! The only thing I couldn’t quite get right was the bake....after 12 mins mine weren’t cooked and had spread. I tried a higher temp and took them out after 14 mins and they weren’t quite cooked through. I will try again and chill for longer after cutting.
@CookieliciousNZ4 жыл бұрын
Hello, there are so many different factors that may have cause cookies to spread, but the one thing that i found very important is to make sure your butter is not too soft, its usually the major culprit for spreading. I also have a tutorial and recipe on both my cookies and icing in my video description box. In the video tutorial on how to make my cookie you will see that i recommend chilling your dough before baking as it will also help retain their shape better. You can also try reducing the baking powder in your recipe to help prevent spreading. Also, dont put your cut-out cookie dough into a hot baking tray and lining them with baking paper also help your cookies to be baked more evenly. I hope that helps somehow, its really hard to troubleshoot without actually seeing the cookie dough 😊
@MsSBurnsy4 жыл бұрын
Cookielicious NZ thank you so much 🥰 my butter was definitely too soft! So I will try again and fix that. I also think I was rolling the cookies too thick. So lots to try (and lots to eat if not quite right 😂) Loving your channel- thank you so much.
