☕️ EASY Tea Bag Art Ephemera recycle ♻️

After seeing this video, I went into my canister set of decaf teas and coffees, which I don’t drink and kept in case someone came over and requested decaf. They’re old and stale now, so I just steeped them in hot water and laid them out to dry. I plan on stamping on them for journal clusters. Great ideas!

That’s perfect!!! You can also dye paper with the tea! I’ve been sewing fabric clusters on them too- they look so pretty! I don’t know what it is about tea bags? Have you made a tea themed journal yet???

I have been tea and coffee dying paper and fabrics. I’m a new by. Have not made a journal yet, just lots of embellishments so far. My mom passed away a couple of years ago and I have been cleaning out her house that has 60 years of antiques and lots of stuff. I’m a crafter and so was she and I was looking for a way to use up and sell all the fabrics, paper and other stuff we both had. I stumbled onto a video by Gi Kerr and the lightbulb went off. This craft is perfect for me. I have been making fabric covered albums for many years but interest has diminished now that pictures have gone digital. I did save the tea in a spray bottle for now and put it in the fridge. Excited to spend more time with this but I just got the house on the market and I still have to mow and get a little more stuff out so I haven’t had too much time yet. The house is an hour away. Soon!

How wonderful that you are able to use some of the things she had and that she passed her love for crafting to you 💕 maybe you can make a junk journal with her fabrics and paper as a remembrance for her love. Thank you so much! I will try to share once I have more time to actually get started. I do want to make a photo album journal and put pictures of the things we made over the years and the craft shows we sold at together. I have so much to work with that I don’t think I will need to go to a craft store except for glue for a very long time!

While you can compost the tea leaves, I have used tea like a faux "glitter" on ATC's. Especially the kind that is really fragrant. Makes a nice addition to one that you are preparing to swap. I had ginger herbal tea this morning for breakfast. Can't do real tea anymore because of the caffeine, so have found a few herbal ones that I enjoy - chai is my favorite, ginger, licorice, thyme, hyssop, and fennel. Yum! like your drawings on the tea bags. You did good!

@@KitchenCounterCrafts :( nope, not even white tea either. Up to that point, one of my favorite drinks to get as a treat was Quik Trip's peach tea and doc shot that one down as well. So had to find herbal teas that were yummy. In fact, I'm drinking Celestial Seasonings Gingerbread Spice tea again this morning. Ginger is supposed to be good for tummies.

You can try inking the stamp by placing it on top of a piece of paper or paper towel, (face up) and then patting it with the ink pad until you have as much ink as you want. And you can stamp the tea bags the same way. Just place the tea bag on top of the stamp.

That is actually a very helpful tip, Terri! For some reason, I don't seem to be coordinated enough - a friend of mine used to work for Stampin' Up and she shakes her head at the way I use my stamps. I think it freaks her out! LOL!

I’m watching this again , the green tea bags how do you separate the tea bag? Not sure where to cut to release the seeds…

Thank you so much for asking! I cut right below the staple. Sometimes, you can separate out the top of the bag from the staple, but since I am impatient, I end up ripping the top. You can gently remove the back side of the tea bag from the front (nice, stapled side) and that way, it looks nice in the front as well. I hope that helped!

I’m a bit late to the tea (bag) party, but I love your tutorial! Especially showing how to draw a cup and a pot! I cannot draw freehanded (is that even a word?)…but I’ll give it a try with your example.😊🫖☕️

@@KitchenCounterCrafts I can do simple stitches and I make junk journals, so adding ribbon and lace is definitely a possibility. Like any seasoned crafter I have a hefty stash to pick from. I’m retired and try to learn something new everyday and these tea bags look like fun. I have my friends and family saving their used tea bags…they just roll their eyes when I discover a new project. 🙄

@@labgirlreed Great excuse for a ladies tea at your house or church! Hahaha! The ladies at my church know that I want to save teabags - especially those beautiful silky ones. They also save their old cards and bits of paper for me. Even the choir is now giving me their music sheet printouts! I'm the church recycle bin! Hahaha!!! On the teabags -- I'm working on a tiny junk journal made with the tea wrappers!!! It's taking me some time but I think it's going to end up being pretty cute. STAY TUNED!!! Are you subscribed???? 😍
