Hi Debbie, the thing is I am grateful to be able to afford the high quality art supplies now (which was NOT always the case) but I love finding out ways to be resourceful with what is right in front of us waiting for us to discover them. Zero waste art supplies!

Hi Janet. Mostly in this project I am using a homemade clear gesso. Have a look at this for a clearer explanation. Thanks for touching base! Kelly kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaXFcpp9erCFbKc

One of the things I really like about using tea bags is the beautiful tea color. In my mind, the uneven color and shape and the irregularity, in general, add an element of mystery and age. Thank you for presenting so many ideas to try!

You nailed it, Kathy. It is kind of like a cross between tea reading and mark making for a shabby chic divination. I like that in an art supply. 😺😺

Thank you, Kelly! Loved this. And I love me some gouache! I was gifted the super chunky earthy Derwent sticks like yours for my birthday. Now I am in need of some of those luscious slender sticks! I'm trying out all the different media a little at a time and having a great time. Still not yet sure what my true style is but I think I'm getting closer. Thanks again. Looking forward to the next installment of the tea bag tutorials!❤️

Hi Robyn. I actually love those chunky sticks and you can make the ink with those as I did with the thinner sticks so try that. The trouble for me is that they are too heavy to tote in my portable art kit and dang, they do NOT break. I tried and broke a darn nail. Have fun exploring!

The only tea I enjoy is Tetley, which is the round bags. However, I can purchase empty large square tea bags at the dollar store and I think I could brew them with my usual tea. Hmmm now you've got me thinking...

Hi Susan. I also save mine for mending, especially when a binding goes south an on altered book. It is so light but strangely resilient.

I prefer the acrylic paints to watercolour must admit. Yes fab video home made gesso as got the ingredients. Love this idea in general 👏 😀💓I want to draw on craft fabric plain white and use a black ink pen as think it's effective.

Hi Kelly 🙂 I have clear gesso and coffee dyed tea bags. So this will be my project for tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. What kind of tea was the bag that looked reddish? I have bought several kinds and they we’re always looking a little pinky. I know I mentioned that I’m not a fan of the tea. The smell is awful too. But for the sake of my craft I have brewed many types of tea and couldn’t achieve any other color than pinkish. That’s when I started coffee dying. Plus you can’t buy just a few bags. 💐💐💐

Hi there, Jodi. That one is from a fruit "tea" - blackcurrant and something. So check out the tea section and see if there is something in the berry family there. To get the soaked and stained look, check out the technique in the previous video, where you let the liquid pool and dry with the bags. It adds a lot of dimension and depth.
