Another interesting project and a very useful tutorial, namely using a "softbox" to build a box with rounded corners very easily, with or without a lid. I used to use the "cube", with a radius, but the surfaces result always curved, too. This is much more efficient. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!

Been looking for this for a month, works well and not just on text. Was able to extrude the outline for Crystal Palace FC logo in 30 seconds.

Good afternoon, well explained, I have been looking for this action for some time. but how do I get the inside side of the letter to be the same as the outside side, it concerns the following letters Q, R, O, P, A, D, B. Thanks for the comment.

Making this complete is on my list... I appreciate the reminder. An extra step would be the technique used for the details here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5KUl4dqjc1lnLs I have yet to test and print a final solution though.

Brilliant how you make this whole process so easy. One potential problem though: when you create the outer line on letters that have enclosed interior spaces (like "O", "B" and the like) the channel doesn't include that interior space.

Good point. I think I have a plan B. Stay tuned.

Hi MIKE, I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, THANKS FOR TEACHING. I AM FROM ARGENTINA, AND I WOULD LIKE, IF YOU CAN EXPLAIN, HOW TO MAKE HOLLOW PRINT AND CURSIVE LETTERS. EXAMPLE: OPEN AND COCA COLA. THERE ARE MANY OF THESE EXAMPLES IN FUSION360 BUT NOTHING IN TINKERCAD. I HAVE A 20X20 CM 3D PRINTER, SO IT WOULD BE GOOD IF YOU EXPLAIN HOW TO CUT THEM AND BE ABLE TO HANG THEM UP LATER. THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND I AM WAITING FOR YOUR RESPONSE. THANK YOU.

This is what I mean Mike, doing this in tinkercad. It is for LED lights. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX7Ol2ltlL-he68si=gHSn-YLcgb9qS9SF

@@HLModTech I saw that video, but the letter D, O and E do not have their interior. I think it should be possible to do it in tinkercad just like they do it in fusion 360. I HOPE I CAN TEACH THIS TYPE OF FONT. THANK YOU

Tinkercad is missing a TON of the features he uses to make his. I did some fiddling, but there is nothing easy about the process. The tricks the creator used to make objects a little smaller for so the fit was right is super helpful... and part of a powerful program.. that cost 400 bucks. =) That said... I will keep fiddling. If you would, You can reach me at hlmodtech gmail. I will share the project so you can see where I am at so far.

OK, I figured out a work around, you take the object, set fill to inner line, and then lay that on a hole version of the text object and that leaves the spaces you need to fill, then follow your process and then align that with with the result and, there you have it!

Well done! I have been working on new techniques for those lately. This trick helped a lot when I added the front. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmSpfa1md6-Ji80

This doesn't work for letters that loop on themselves, in script-like fonts, lower case "a", "e", "o" for example, the channel doesn't form correctly, still looking for a solution.

How about instead of opening the bottom of the letters, you open the back of the letters? Then you could make a "back panel with a lip" that would enable you to run LED lighting throughout the whole model? That "back panel with a lip" would then enclose the entire model. Thank you.
@HLModTech11 ай бұрын
Yes! I was thinking the same thing as I finished it. That press-fit closure I did for the bottom was super slick. I will be making a new version of that video. I am traveling rn, so it will likely be next week. I think it will be really slick,

Once again, very well done tutorial. I have a suggestion for the next tutorial: Make a regular polygon using a cone shape. This tutorial should be an “Absolute Beginner” level. If you didn’t know yet, a regular polygon is mathematically defined as a polygon where all of the sides and all of the angles are equal to each other.

Great suggestion! As a former math teacher your explanation of the shape is terrific!
