Thanks for the regular content. I thought after the DAC project there would be a lull. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see the notification. Liked the video and hope others will also subscribe.

Beautiful driver! I love it. And your cabinet and stands was the icing. Nice work on it all.

I like the detail of this video, how you step by step took everything from raw to finish. Looking forward to seeing other builds. Thank you.

I think my only two modification would have been to round over the inside of the speaker hole. This hemps with internal refraction but even more so than the round over at the edge of the front enclosure baffle. I am also a big fan of passive radiators over ports and now that tuning them is well understood you can actually make changes tot eh tuning frequency much easier than changing port length. Although, like you said with this design I may have gone sealed as subwoofers is a must for higher output listening. Thumbs up.

You're right about the passives. This would have been a good build to use them in. I also appreciate the ability to model, and then make adjustments in the real world. My concern with rounding inside driver openings is always material thickness. By the time I countersink a driver, it leaves little material left to screw into. But I do know it has many benefits. Thanks for the watch!

I've almost finished a similar project using an older seas coaxial. They already had plans for this driver so it was easy enough.

Could you please write the crossover in the description, cause the "next video suggestion" covers the picture of it?

TangBand make great reasonably priced drivers for sure! ...I really miss a bunch of their W3 sized Full range drivers, like the W3-871S, etc ...I still use my Logitech z5500 system which feature the 871s ...nice build!

They are a reliable manufacturer. Not many are willing to take a chance on building coax drivers. Glad we have options as DIYers

I recently built a 4.1.2 out of 6 identical SB Acoustics drivers (8 inch fullrange, 27 liter, no correction just capacitor tuning, 30mm HDF front, very well braced) and though they are very cheap they do not sound like that _at all._ Best set I ever had.

Thank you for this inspirational video! Have you considered a floorstander with coax and side mounted bass drivers like the Kef blade?
@DIYhyfy6 ай бұрын
I do have eventual plans for something like that. I think I will do a pro driver version of KEFs blades.

I'm going to try to do the same thing as yours, but with a ported box.. and I think if you want to help me, let me know how many inches and how many meters the box is, thanks

Hi, this is a ported enclosure. Check the end of the video for dimensions & port size.

How do you determine your crossover frequency/slope?
@DIYhyfy5 ай бұрын
Hi, that's a complex question. I started by measuring both tweeter & woofer separately. Finding where both drivers begin to distort & break up. Just before that is the crossover point. The slope is determined by woofer Cone breakup, and tweeter distortion. If you have more specific questions, please ask.

I will try in the future. Recording clean audio is more tricky than setting them up to be measured. Tough to get an accurate recording.

or if you can't build a box, pick up a car audio subwoofer box, a good pre built 2 way 2k crossover and have a go.

no need to DIY something like this ,,,,, you can buy a pair of PRESONUS ERIS PRO 6 ACTIVE speakers which sound astounding and go down to 35 hz for $600

these speakers were a quarter of that price prb

Do you know this is the diyhyfy channel? Exactly how do you think a premade much more expensive speaker fits in? Why don’t you go to a car repair channel and suggest new cars?
