I know this is an older video. I’m 59 years old and restoring a 1979 16’ Sylvan Deep V. It’s in pretty great shape except for the floors that someone went and put 3/4 inch plywood over the original carpet AND plywood! And it doesn’t take on the first drop of water so I’m lucky there. 🤦🏼♂️ so ripped it all out and starting fresh. And I’m redoing the transom also. All of your videos I’ve watched on your builds are amazing and has helped me so much. Thank you!

I can’t find this particular drain tube on Amazon but two very similar. A sea choice brand and a sea dog 1” by 2-1/2

Thanks Jeff. You just saved me about $25 bucks! I appreciate you going over the steps several times as I’ve never done anything like this before - but have a boat project I’m working on. And thanks for your quick answers.

I was wondering if it matters what direction you put the longer end in or the shorter end, in my boat, the short end is on the inside of the boat, and the long end to the outside of the boat.

Do you need to plug this drain whole when launching the boat water was coming in I didn’t pull it off the trailer cause it’s my first boat it’s a old one 1980 it has a splash well it was about 2 inches but I went to the boat shop they said that’s normal cause I was launch when I pull it off the trailer it will stop and drain out until it’s under the drain hole water level
@bowl8302 жыл бұрын
No you don’t plug the splashwell drain.

I need to do this but my engine is on the boat do I need to remove the engine?
@bowl8302 жыл бұрын
Some are on the sides. If so no need. I have done it with the motor in place. It’s just harder. Good luck.

I have the same boat, would you trust putting a 90 hp 350 pound motor on it? Or is that too much?
@bowl8303 жыл бұрын
We shall see I got a 90 Suzuki four stroke for it. Lol. Haven’t mounted it yet 😂

@@bowl830 i looked at a 2006 Johnson 90 hp that seems to be in great condition. Do you know anything about them motors, and what should I check for?
@bowl8303 жыл бұрын
Always check compression. I always check lower unit and make sure there’s no water in it. Good luck and thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it

That transom material is it pvc foam or plastic sheets?
@bowl8303 жыл бұрын
It’s a rigid pvc like material. It’s grainy just like the interior of PVC pipe.
@kansascityshuffle85263 жыл бұрын
@@bowl830 ok so it’s definitely NOT the extruded foam PVC then. Thanks. Like the work so far. I hope you touch on how you fab that trim cap in the future.

Is your motor not going to cover that drain?
@bowl8303 жыл бұрын
There’s enough of a gap that the water can run out
@mikedrury13173 жыл бұрын
I looked back and heard you say that. I hooked my motor on mine yesterday and ran all the cables and the cables are about 2-3 foot longer than where I wanted to mount the controls. Any suggestion to kind of shorten them?
@bowl8303 жыл бұрын
@@mikedrury1317 cables are pretty cheap I’d just order new ones the correct length. You can look at the jacket on them to see the length.
