Easy Cauliflower Street Tacos: 3 Ways | Buffalo, Teriyaki, and BLT (Plant Based + Gluten Free Option)
I was skeptical at first, but cauliflower might just be my new favorite taco filling. In this video, I show you how to make 2 variations of cauliflower street tacos: Roasted Teriyaki, Buffalo Ranch, and "BLT" Style. Each taco has their own creamy sauce, and “pico”.

That is the most meticulous breakdown of cauliflower that I have ever seen, and I have a degree in Culinary Arts. I will say that I think cabbage and cauliflower are the most humble of all the vegetables, and to make them taste good (without FRYING), is commendable. :)

How did I NEVER think to use my salad spinner for something other than lettuce?? Game changer for roasting veggies!
@MonsonMadeThis
@MonsonMadeThis 4 жыл бұрын
I use it all of the time when cleaning veggies. I'm actually on the lookout for a second one because I love to rinse and spin my lettuce, and then store it inside of the spinner where the lettuce is suspended and away from moisture. It's a very handy gadget. Thanks for watching!

I love storing my lettuce in the spinner but I just my Tupperware because it takes up a lot of space. I ALSO use my spinner for radishes, cilantro, the list goes on :D

if you put the pineapple rings in a hot skillet for a couple minutes and brown them it really brings the sweetness out. That's what we did at the taco place I used to own. Great video, BTW

Originally, I was going to roast the pineapple in the the cauliflower and get them a bit charred... Then I decided to make a "pico" with them... I like your suggestion; gives the best of both worlds. Thanks!

I thought of an idea to use the cauliflower leaves for those who might be interested. I live inner city in an apartment. Like many who live in inner cities, composting/gardening is not so easily available. Since many "fish" style or cauliflower based tacos use slaws, you can shred or julienne thinly the leaves. Use them as the "cabbage" in the slaw. It is a cabbage after all so if you can't compost the leaves, don't discard them... Shred them and use them in the slaw. It's nutritious for you and completely edible.

I will never cut up cauliflower a way other than this again. Made the buffalo tacos for dinner and they were amazing~ it's also easy to prep everything and just cook up the cauliflower fresh. It only took about 15 or so minutes in the air fryer for a small batch.
@MonsonMadeThis

I actually tested the first batch in the air fryer, but I decided to run some oven test so that more people had access to the recipe. I think they're actually better in the air fryer, but don't tell the oven folks. Haha.

Just an FYI, "pico" comes from the term for the Mexican food topping pico de gallo (beak of the chicken) meaning that it "bites" or "pokes at" the tongue (just basically stings the mouth and tongue, throat, and then later on somewhere else if you know what I mean). In English, it means it is spicy and/or hot spicy. Pico de gallo is just chopped up tomatoes, onions, and hot chili peppers generally, but not always. It is somewhat akin to a Mexican salsa that is smoother and more tomato sauce like in consistency, while pico de gallo is more loose and chopped up in consistency and watery many times.

THANK YOU for using the core! I always wonder why people throw away the leaves and the core. I'm a bit disappointed you didn't use the leaves. Maybe not in the tacos, but they are great sauteed with onions - or in soup, or added to other greens. The core tastes the same as the florets - perhaps even a tad sweeter (just as the broccoli stems, once peeled, taste WAY sweeter and better than the "crowns". I used to get away with looking like an unselfish cook and "perfect" hostess by giving my guests all the broccoli crowns and eating the stems myself. Then, I met my husband. He wasn't buying into my little routine - now we both go to the store and try to buy the stems that other people break off and leave in the veggie bin. No florets? No crowns? NO PROBLEM!) ;) But in the future - try cooking the leaves instead of throwing them in the bin, or even composting. You are missing a treat if you don't!
@MonsonMadeThis

Broccoli and cauliflower stems are my favorite parts of the plant. I love to use them when I cook, but I also love to just keep them as my "chef's snack". I've wanted to use the leaves from cauliflower, but most of the ones I buy don't have the best looking leaves. And sometimes I don't eat my cauliflower right away, and the leaves are the first things to go. But I'll get there. Haha.

Thanks - i just bought a packet of corn tortillas and i've got very little idea what to do with them. Im Australian and the only tortillas we regularly see are those bent crispy ones in a box. I'm vegetarian so your video is absolutely tailor made. Thanks very much! 🌮

I do cut my cauliflower this way, but what a great idea to use the salad spinner washing it. These look wonderful. I am cooking some cauliflower as I watch this. I like those wide mouth jars and lids, which I see are on your Amazon page. Cool.

Thanks for finding me! Have you ever air-fried broccoli? Or cooked broccoli in a really hot oven, say around 425 F? It's the best! And I bet it would make for some amazing tacos. I just did a "Japanese Risotto" video a couple of weeks ago and I made a sesame air-fried broccoli that would definitely be good in these.

@@MonsonMadeThis Yes! Actually what I do is I lightly steam my broccoli first for 2-3 minutes then pop it in the air fryer for a couple minutes. Love it

I've never actually tried making cauliflower steaks. They always seem so messy and wasteful to me... I think with those, you just start cutting from top to bottom and hope that at the end you have two or three "steaks". Haha. They always look delicious, but I've just never given them a go. Maybe I should!
