I appreciate your video ! The easy walk deluxe works great for me and my golden retriever, who really loved to forge ahead. I find that if you adjust the chest strap so it doesn’t sag, it is very effective. If it won’t adjust correctly, it’s not the right size.

Thank you for the video, I've got a wild, fast growing Doberman puppy so sizing anything is tough and your illustration of the importance of fit is great for people to see. A gentle leader works very well with her (pull reduction by about 90% instantly) but it's also very annoying to her at the same time. I'm trying one of the two hounds harnesses soon, she's between sizes at the moment so I may have to wait for her to grow into it a bit but I'm looking forward to trying it.

You're very welcome! Try the Halti double ended leash. you can attach one clip to the GL and one clip to two hound harness. It will take some of the pressure off the GL when she pulls down. you should be able to make the harness small enough to fit. harness. The Rabbit goo harness is very inexpensive and has 2 clips to attach the leash. you may like that harness to use with the Halti double ended leash. hope this helps to relieve the pups frustration of wearing the gl. Love the Freedom Harness! I use it and the 2 point connection to loop the leash across my body for hands free service dog. It is amazing for this purpose! My dog doesn't pull so I have no thoughts on the no pull purpose. I don't have a problem with twisting of the webbing. Really enjoyed this video! Thank you!

Recently I learned to clip the Easy Walk Harness to the collar as well which prevents chest strap from lowering! Also learned I can use fuzzy strap covers to prevent chaffing (great for multiple harnesses) as well.

And so, my search for the perfect harness continues! To be honest, I felt a little better knowing that I'm not alone! 😜 I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on the easy walk. I find the Wonder walker body halter so much better (because it doesn't restrict the shoulder unlike the easy walk). My problem is that my pup is in between sizes; the front strap sags a little bit on her. I currently clip the leash in the front along with her collar clip to avoid this sagging. I'm still on the hunt for that perfect one! I'm soon going to try Wildebeest's linden harness! Fingers, toes and paws crossed!

Joyce, this was an excellent breakdown, and it pretty much tracks with our experience. We have both. (And at this point, we now have 4 harnesses!) We have a 6 month old English Springer pup. She has a lot of energy, and she can really pull and lunge. We were told about the Easy Walk while at a Petco puppy training session. It definitely made for a better walk, but we also noticed it pinched Bonnie, and it always seems to need adjusting. At first we tried a small/medium and that was too tight. Then we went with a medium, and it hangs on her a bit. When putting it on, she also doesn't seem to particularly like it (but it's easy to put on). We just got the Freedom Harness, so it's too early to tell. I like the dual attachment. Seems to make for better control. But what you said about the twisting clip is something I noticed immediately as we were fitting it on her. I do wonder what kind of daily chore it will be to put this harness on? I sometimes wonder if I should try a leash-collar set up again, but I'll see how the Freedom Harness works over the long run. Generally speaking, she is getting better during walks. I work with her every day (doesn't mean I'm very good at it -- but I try). It's very frustrating to keep buying harnesses.

@@DiamondDogTraining , thanks Joyce. Yeah, I'm probably (eventually) going to get the Flagline. Maybe the Front Range. I actually have a collar from Ruffwear, and I've been very pleased with it. This morning I actually put on the Easy Walk out of frustration with trying to put on the Freedom Harness. Generally speaking, I think the dual lead is the way to go. That said, the Freedom Harness is a pain to put on (though I think it's definitely more comfortable for the dog). Also, the attachment hooks are too small, especially if you have a dog with a thick coat. Bonnie is projected to gain around 10 more pounds. She is also scheduled for spaying in June. I'll probably make a switch then.

Thank you for your question. I like to use a harness for walking. Then if the dog jerks forward suddenly, there is no danger of the dog hurting their neck. The collar’s only purpose is to carry the tags. Joyce

Thanks for the excellent video. My dog aetually walks very nicely on a leash. However, when I take her to the park, or if there is a rather out of control dog, she gets excited. I'm geting older and having trouble as she can pull me over. I don't like the looks of either harness. Your dog looked a bit happier in the Freedom harness, but I'm afraid it also looks like one of those impossible Chinese puzzles. :D The thin straps are also a no deal.

i agree the Freedom Harness can become so twisted. you need to always keep one side clipped and then it can still be a problem. Yes, Nicky was definitely happier walking in the Freedom Harness than the EasyWalk Harness. She walked very restricted in the Easy Walk Harness. i like the RuffWear Frontline Harness. How large is your dog? The ruffwear Webmaster Harness would give you even more ontrol with a large dog. Also the Halti double ended leash with the Frontliune Harness would provide the most control when your dog gets very excited. you would clip the 2 ends of the leash . One end to the front and 1 end to the back of the frontline harness. I have a collie pup. .she does not walk well one-shot yet. I think she still wants to go where she wants to. Tge .artingal collar at times she kind I'd chokes with thus so thought will try both easy walk halter and the collar. With the collie fluff not afraid of the chafing. My senior collie always surged ahead. Hoping this will work well. She gas already learned to sit and lay in diwn position so hoping easy walk will work well for her.

For a houdini dog is the flagline harnas much better. My dog is a Thai Bankaew a strong dog and a houdini. She has an S harnas and it fits perfect is strong and easy to made fit. Expensif but good.

Hi Ann, a dog who is a Houdini needs the extra strap for safety. I would think the easy walk and freedom harness would be too easy to slip out of for your dog. The Flagline is a great harness for safety. The Flagline is soft and pliable. I don’t know if a large strong dog would pull or break the harness. If your dog is really large, you might look at the webmaster harness to see if you think that harness is safe . Thank you . Joyce

I’m interested by your review because I’m searching for a no pull harness for my adolescent dog whose recently taken to pulling, but I have a question- have you have watched the fitting instruction videos for the Easy Walk Harness? They clearly say to to adjust the the straps in the following order 1. Top 2. Belly 3. Chest. And also to ensure the rings sits behind the shoulder tip not at it. The fully adjust body strap should sit in a straight vertical line behind the shoulder and be firmly adjusted before you adjust the chest strap. So from watching your review you are not fitting this harness as per the instructions. ( no criticism intended) I would just be interested to see if fitting the harness correctly changed your opinion. I’m also intrigued by the fact you see that people fitting the harness the wrong way around as a downside when the manufacturer has gone to such lengths to ensure each part of the harness is labelled for correct fit. Having assisted in community based dog training classes I’ve seen all kinds of harnesses fitted every which way except the correct way. User error, cannot be blamed on the manufacturers especially when the fitting instructions are so clear.

Yes, labeling the straps to help people and they still put the harness on upside down. I think it is because some people want the leash to attach in top . The easy walk with 1 leash attachment in front may fit some dogs perfectly but I have see. So many dogs come to class and daycare with the chest strap hanging loose. I have tightened the strap on many dogs to see them return a week later loose again. That is my experience with the EasyWalk. Nicky with the narrow chest , I could not tighten the chest strap or any strap tight enough to prevent the sagging chest strap. Just did not work for Nicky. Here is a video that will give you 2 harnesses that I like the most. My dogs wear the RuffWearFlagline Harness. soft, easy to put on and extra strap prevents escape. flagline comes in XXS. In regards to the easy walk harness, you're supposed to adjust the chest last. You go over the head to the shoulders first then the belly. Its supposed to fit vertically then you do the chest area which should be horizontal. Ideally you want to measure the circumference from the shoulder and the belly. She is a patient dog, do sweet. How is the freedom harness with dogs that lunge?

Yes, I agree. The easy walk just does not fit in Nicky. I tightened the chest strap as small as it goes and it still sagged . Some dogs with broader chest, the Easy walk works and the chest strap fits correctly. But many clients would bring dogs to training with chest strap sagging because she strap loosens over time while walking dog and dog pulls on leash. I was always sending dogs home from daycare after I tightened the chest strap to fit correctly only to have dog come back with strap loose again. The Freedom Harness is good velvet for softness under the armpits. Front and back attachments. Thank you. Joyce

The easy walk harness is perfect. The problem is that you don’t have the right size for your dog. The right size means everything and it’s not supposed to lay down it’s supposed to be straight across the front if you have the right size. Don’t put down a product based on your improper ordering as you truly are using it wrong. Most vets do recommend it!

As you can see in the video and from the comments here, there are drawbacks that i and other people have found with this harness to getting a proper fit with this Easy Walk Harness. The 2 harnesses i showed Nicky wearing were the small and small medium. There is no other size to try for her. for your dog, the Easy Walk Harness may be a perfect fit. for many other dogs, the harness is not a proper fit. Wonderful that you are showing people what all the various harnesses look like (even though these are two of my least liked). But please don't tell people that a harness causes a dog to pull. A harness doesn't cause a dog to pull any more than sneakers cause me to run, or a car causes me to drive fast. A human does have a choice not to follow their dog when they pull. And a sled dog has to be trained, or all dogs would be champion sled dogs 🙂 A good harness generally doesn't stop pulling either. The two you talk about here are purposely designed to interrupt a dog's natural movement, which is uncomfortable for them and certainly not what we should be aiming to do, and based on your commentary it sounds like you agree for the most part.

these are not my favorite harness. you will see other videos on my channel. Blue 9 Balance harness does not restrict movement, RuffWear harness has extra straps and handle for safety and very comfortable. Check out those videos. i do not use the easy walk because it can pull the shoulders to the side and the Freedom because it fits very close under the arm pits. i believe I was saying when you wear a harness that clips at the shoulders, a dog can put all their strength into pulling forward. A no pull harness is designed to not give the dog the strength to pull forward. Absolutely, you need to train a dog to not pull. Hi, I've watched the last few videos where you compared your no pull harness. I have a standard poodle and the biggest problem I have is fitting. His chest is very narrow, and is girth is larger, therefore, he's literally in two sizes. He's a big puller. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Have you tried the Blue-9 Balance Harness. They have a harness with neck clip. You can adjust the neck strap to fit the narrow chest. The girth strap can also be opened to the widest point . The Flagline you would not have the neck adjustment option . Let me know what you find works best. The freedom harness also goes over the head with no neck adjustment. I hope this helps you .

Easy Walk: front of harness hanging down does not indicate how it sits when there is tension on the leash, and the harness is pulled toward the rear.

That is a good question. I probably should purchase a Halti harness and review. I owned a Halti harness years ago. I liked the harness but found the straps to be very thin on a medium sized dog. Do you have a Halti harness? What do you think?

I thought it worked well but then he pulled insanely-altho not as bad as without it-it has two straps around the leg straps that are soft to protect the comfort and elbow/armpit area. I probably wasn't using it correctly. It also has a slide adjustment on the back attachment that should be 2" from the ring-I'm assuming at a regular stance position. I forgot to adjust that and then did. Not sure what went wrong.

I just looked at the Halti Harness that you described. It sounded like the Sporn Harness and it is really close to the same design. I never used this Halti Harness/ I do know the Sporn Harness would stretch as the dog pulled. You needed to keep sliding the clip down to keep the harness tight. I am doing a video tomorrow on the Gentle Leader Head Collar. Please watch for the video. I am having good success with dogs that are extreme pullers. Hi Linda, i have found a harness that I like. Here is a video on the RuffWear Flagline Harness. This one fits snug so the dog cannot back out and is comfortable and soft to wear. Please check out this video. The other harness in the video is the Blue9 Balance Harness. This is a nice harness also, but did not fit as well as the RuffWear flagline. hope this helps.
