I am a beginner and it frustrated me because it just looked awful. I struggle very much with the wet on wet technique and did not know how to make it work. I really enjoyed this lesson. One question, which seems to be a common issue for me; how do you know where to keep it light, where to drop a n darks etc. it looks intuitive but if you can offer any tips it’d be greatly appreciated!!

I wish I could see what colors you were using. As a beginner, I am not very good at eyeballing colors and need names/visuals of colors to help me!

Paint the concept with oranges reds and yellows. Shadows or darker pigments around each section with highlights like the yellows in the middle of each section, blend the dark edges lightly into the light, so the are no obvious changes in color. Don’t use bright orange use an orange red color. Make it your own. You are learning, so give yourself a lot of grace and most of all have fun with it. ❤

Bee paper if you can get it - but try and use coupons for the Arches- sadly its the best for wet on wet.

Reyna, with the large sheets of pricey paper I just cut them down to more manageable sizes. Not quite ready to face off with a giant blank white page. Lol Also, you can use the back of epic failures to paint on. A little bit of a different texture but still useable.

Hello! I am new to watercolor but not to using paints I am not happy with the paper I am using.. then I noticed you are using a Japanese paints. I am now getting confused on what to use because I am not happy with Arteza tubes and would like something else. Some folks used Windsor Newton tube. Any sugesstions? I am detesting that I can't go to school because everything is closed.. thank you!

i think i really need to make detailed sketches first. i am taking a wet in wet workshop and it is very hard for me. wetting paper and letting paint run. i feel like my pictures look like kindergarten 😫
