That’s a tough shot to get. My best advise is watch that float. Learn what’s natural movement from it being in the water and what’s not natural. Slight ticks, float turned sideways are both good indicators there’s a fish on.

I generally only use clip floats. Always clipped with a double wrap on the bottom.

I know you mentioned the bobber was set to 4ft, looks to be 6-7ft but that’s a guess…..Also what was the temp this day? You can see your breath, I’m thinking in the 40’s…Man I can’t wait until it’s full on spring. I’ve been out several times this pre spawn but have only caught bass. I’m sure Illinois’s weather is similar to Ohio but it’s anything but consistent. It’ll be 65-70 a day or two then go right back to 45-50 degrees! Tomorrow is a high of 57 so I’m gonna try my luck and hopefully find the crappie!

Gopro always stretches things out a bit. I may have also been slightly off on my estimate. Temp was high 30’s that day. But we had a few days in the high 60’s prior to this trip.
