Thank you Sir. I've been doing these since a few weeks. The overlapping arms I did not do, will for sure try this out. Question I have is if these kinds of exercises are meant for temporary pain management or are they able to fix problems of this nature on a more permanent basis as well if done regularly?
@DrRowe4 жыл бұрын
They may help minor issues, like strain/sprain and small disc bulge injuries fully recover (and quicker). Major issues, like a large disc herniation, are going to need professional treatment. Hope this helps and let us know how the overlapping arms method worked for you.
@FakeGyllenhaal4 жыл бұрын
@@DrRowe The crossed arms certainly adds more grip on the area instead of holding the towel normally and bending the neck to one side like I did previously. Thank you so much for that! I believe it released the spot much better than before. Some do these traction movements more just underneath the base of the skull. Would placing the towel higher/lower on the neck also be beneficial to do? And finally: do these help with thoracic outlet syndrome? If not I'd love to see a video from you on that one day!

Hello Doctor, Thank you for sharing this video, it is very helpful. I wonder if people with this condition will be able to run again?
@thomasorchard3 жыл бұрын
This worked really well, especially the Chris cross method at the end. I'm not 100% pain free yet but I used a towel wrapped into an exercise band and it worked really well. Also... Ask your Dr about a 6 day pack of Medrol... I took that, in addition to performing physical therapy stretches and very light exercise. (The source of my pain is c5 thru c7 in my neck.) Even after the pain goes away, still perform the stretches and exercises everyday... (or else the pain will return weeks or months later!) Surgery is a last resort for only very serious issues. You maybe going thru a lot of pain right now, but over 90% of people can probably recover and be almost pain free after 1 week or 2 weeks of dedicated stretches and physical therapy. In my experience... Resting a herniated disc for too long doesn't make it any better. You gotta actively stretch and do the exercises your physical therapy recommends. That's the only way I found relief. Always be mindful of your posture too.
