Pinched nerves, also known as compressive neuropathy conditions, are one of the most commonly implicated diagnostic theories used to explain combination neck pain symptoms in the upper body including: neck and shoulder pain, neck and arm pain, neck and hand pain and neck and finger pain. Compressed nerves are also usually blamed for causing many of the associated neurological symptoms which may occur in any of these areas, including tingling, weakness or numbness in the upper appendages. There could also be numerous possible causes for a trigger point, such as an poor head posture, acute injury, repetitive overuse, or irritation of facet joints in the spine, to name a few. Trigger point pain is thought to result from nodules-or tight “knots”-that develop in the otherwise smooth muscle. The number one rule I will teach you to overcome this condition is not to panic! Dr Mandell

I am married to one, and it used to bother me how invested my husband is in his patients out of his office hours. I mean he gives his cell phone number to some patients!!!! I used to hate it because it is my personal time with him. But , I came to the conclusion that this world needs more physicians like them! Specially since I started to have to health issues myself and have suffered the neglect from the modern medical field. Is blessing that I have someone that all he does is taking care his patients beyond almost any circumstances.

I would never neglect the Dr from asking for an MRI. It saved my brothers life. He had bad neck pain and arm pain for a long time and finally had an MRI and found he had his spinal column almost close off an could have lost the use of his legs and arms. They ha to do an emergency surgery to fuse his neck. He is much much better.

I have pinched nerve in C5 and this video was 100% accurate to describe my problems with it. My observations from last 3 years with this problem is that best thing you can do is to strengthen your neck muscles and focus on posture. My new daily routine is little bit of self-massage at the back of the neck. Then rotating head to all possible direction, so stretching. And lastly but the most important is to strengthen those neck muscles. I try to rotate my head in different directions and press against that rotation with my hands. Best thing for your health is to activate and strengthen your muscles around the body.

I’m also suffering the same herniated disc problem and after looking at MRI all doctors strongly pressed me to go for surgery but I’ve taken opinions from physiotherapists as well. They said don’t panic I then trusted them , did physiotherapy regularly , maintained correct posture and get rid of this pain in my left hand radiating from the c7, c8. C6 bulging here and sitting on the nerve going down my arm. Therapy company #1 wanted to only focus on posture. I am a 44 year old with mild CP correct posture isn't a thing for me. I found a different who is a massage therapist and a chiropractor who ordered an MRI to make sure we weren't missing something. So thankful for them because they did and said exactly what you have posted here. After 3 months I feel human. ❤

Thanks doctor Mandel, I have driven truck for a living for the past 24 years and last November I had my first major collision rollover. I’m up for a shoulder replacement and my back has been in my back for years and now I’m told bulging discs have travelled to my neck as well.

Great info! This is blessing me as I struggle thru C6-7 cervical spinal stenosis. Performing the decompression exercises have been most beneficial, led to decreased Dilaudid, Norco, Ibuprofen and Flexeril. Will have my Primary order massage therapy, and TENS unit. Getting the ‘Don’t Panic’ message out to family and friends. Many blessings to you. Again, thanks for all you do to inform us, to educate the body as a healing machine when treated as such!

I'm searching for help for pain in my upper left shoulder that goes up into my neck and ear and down my left arm. In addition to this pain, my other problem is when I lay down for bed, I've woken up in a panic: racing heart, shortness of breath and I believe it's due to this pain. This is all new to me, I have an appointment to see a neurologist for guidance, but I'm going to definitely watch all of your videos to help me learn how I can fix myself. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

You're a hero. Having a pinched nerve problem, I find the worst part is trying to stay mentally strong. Having a good understanding of what's happening to my body which this videos provide makes my mental calm down a little and gives me hope. I should get an MRI, I have a great physiotherapist, wish me luck.

Hang in there. I went through it and it was tough, as you well know. Mine resolved itself but it took several months (about 4). By the time of my appointment with a doctor, it was so much better but they wanted that MRI which showed a bone spur they said was causing the pain. My instincts told me they were wrong about it but what do I know. I believe that chin tucks and shoulder shrugs helped me. Good luck to you.

Great as always doc…I learned so much from this. I lift weights, and frequently get that upper back pain with arm numbness. But as you said I Don’t Panic. I follow all of your posture and stretch exercises as well as some other KZbin professionals like yourself and I get through it. Believe in yourself people. Sometimes it may take a while and there may be pain but You Will Get Through It! 😊

@@linghe1298 Yes I did. A massage will help but it may not end the discomfort right away. But just keep staying the course, massage, stretching, stimulation and you will get there. Might take a while but don’t give up.

Thanks Doc, your contribution to our health is deeply appreciated. Too many medical professionals seem to chase the dollar these days sadly rather than wanting to actually care about the overall health of their patients. Your channel has really helped me tackle the painful condition of a frozen shoulder without bankrupting my family trying to find someone who will listen and genuinely help me. Peace to you and God speed in your quest to wake us up about self help and empowerment for looking after ourselves naturally.

Im one of these people you talk of finding this 5 yrs later. Thankyou for your information. Im sure covid lockdowns and the sociological impacts of that has had a huge impact. For sure ith me, as I have spent a lot of time on my own, with the computer screen as company. My life style has changed immensely (for the worse..) during and since lockdown, (harsh in new zealand where i was ), and i now am diagnosed with oseo deterioration of my c5/c6...suspicious narrowing of the disc between, and bone spurs. I will certainly subscribe and learn more about how to take care of my ailments, and thankyou sincerely for giving m hope and guidance to do so.
