EdMylett thanks. As a topic suggestion, I am sure you have found that being a better listener to others helps you listen to your authentic self. When facing a tough decision or taking action in the face of uncertainty, how does practicing the act of listening to others, help you find the strength or courage you need to live more authentically? Virgil said “fortune favors the bold” and Samuel Mockbee said “proceed and be bold” maybe the root of that boldness is a quiet calm that has been cultivated through the act of “listening until the other person has finished talking, then responding thoughtfully.” Ed Mylett said that last one.

My brother Ed. Thank you once again for this amazing content! I have noticed a huge change in myself when I listen to people & then when it's my turn to speak. I used to be the type of person that would let them speak & interrupt them wheb we're conversing. However, now that I have been watching & listening to you! You have helped me become a better listener during a conversation & then I speak when I am able to. I even do repeat back what they say so that let's them know that I truly am engaged with them. I also thank them for opening up & sharing whatever it is that they want to tell me. Just yesterday when I went to get some lunch, I prospected the lady that helped me. I then followed up with her over the phone & she opened up to me about her personal life. I then repeated what she had told me & then I made her feel good about herself with a compliment. I have an appointment with her next Monday. But that just goes to show how much I have changed as an individual & as a listener during a conversation. I do need to ask more open ended questions, that I will say. Brother Ed, thank you again sir. Phenomenal job! By the way, if I had a 3 hour plane ride with you, I would be asking you as many questions as possible & then soak up your wisdom like a sponge. I definitely wouldn't be talking about myself unless you asked me to tell you a little bit about myself! Just saying. In my business I have to be very intentional about listening to understand and not listening to give my response. In general, Mirroring energy is where I struggle the most. Especially with really quiet people that do not show outward emotion. I was playing golf with a guy recently and I holed out for eagle from the Fairway on the very first hole. I was going nuts, and I would have expected my playing partner to react the same, but he didn't even say Nice Shot or a fist bump or any emotion he just put his head down kept walking.. the entire front nine was a one-way conversation of me asking questions or making statements and getting little to no reply. On the back nine I was getting a little frustrated and thought he must not like me so I won't give him any more of my energy. I kept my mouth shut and neither one of us said a word for about 5 holes. It was brutal! Then on the 15th hole he ask me a question, and a follow-up question...and another.... after the round he said he had a great time and couldn't wait to play again! It wasn't until I started mirroring his energy that he felt comfortable.

It has not been going so well. It has been brought to my attention that I talk about myself too often etc. my thing is, I and my personal experience , my testimony is truly all I have to offer. Few weeks ago it occurred to me that I was being a major douche to my wife. I did a fantastic job confessing it and apologizing and assuring her that I was going to try to do much better. I thought I killed it on the apology and we could move on. Nope. She needed to express how she felt about it. Even though she was pretty much restating what I had just said, she needed needed to go over it with me from her point of view. It was wicked difficult to keep my mouth shut and not defend myself. Super hard to look in her eyes and not say anything while staying interested in her speaking with my body language. It was a pivotal moment in our relationship. I know it's difficult but if people could just listen to each other better it would save marriages for sure.

One of my pet peeves in gathering is I'm having a pleasant exchange with someone, and another person walk up, cuts in the conversation with something else - always non-emergent- and that's the end of the first conversation. In fact, I quietly walk away, and neither of them notices. When an interruption happens in business, ie; at the conference table, I let the 'intruder' finish...and I continue with: "....as I was saying..." and pick up where I left off. The only time there are never interruptions in conversations is in movies, television and radio - why? Because the conversations are scripted! The greatest joy I receive is from listening - folks share very personal things sometimes - especially when I'm writing a feature article. The other thing I grant when I'm listening is tending to the speakers' trust via empathy. Mr. Mylett is one of my all time faves! He's always right!

Ed Mylett, thank you so much for your teaching and the energy you spread from your heart through your words. I am so grateful that somehow - I am sure it's a gift sent by the Universe - i listened to you and gave me hope to carry om fighting and look for new opportunities.... At 71 I've been seriously considering "throwing in the towel and give up life. I will follow your videos and just bought your book through a local (Portugal) bookshop. My GOD bless you always for being the "light and the salt" to me and many others.

As a writer, I can get really focused on specific words people use. This video really inspired me to focus my attention on tonality, body language, and non-verbals. Thank you!

I love it that you are secured with yourself by letting us know that you're also working on your listening skills. It makes me feel that I can relate with you and that I can grow together with you Ed, my mentor, in the area of better listening. Thanks, Ed. God bless!

For me just being 100% present is such a big challenge, like you said we get easily distracted or allow ourselves to be distracted. I am practicing leaving my cell phone in my jacket or away from wherever I am having a conversation. I know it bothers me when someone stops mid way through a sentence, checks their phone and than returns to the conversation only to try to finish my sentence or cut off the conversation. Thank you Ed for pointing it out the way you do.

Ed I started watching your content regularly about a month ago. I’m a life coach and an influencer (humbly starting haha) and I want to say THANK YOU. It was my boyfriend who showed me your channel, it’s been very interesting. This video in particular hit the nail for me. But all of them bring to surface conversations I’ve been having in such a great light! Thanks so much for doing this for us!!! God bless ya!

Ed! Baby Mylite here. I’m getting so much out of your videos!!! As someone with really bad inattentive ADHD, this is so valuable for me. I genuinely care about other people but I’m realizing how much it affects my ability to listen. One of my struggles is really bad memory, so I’ve realized I blurt things out because I am afraid I will forget it. Great great stuff. Wish I had a pocket sized Ed to keep me focused and pumped all day, LOL!

Just moved out from a bad relationship of 4 years today, and while I’m getting organized I thought I’d listen to “Ed Mylett”. Everyone at WFG has been talking about this guy. I watched the 9year old WFG talk first. Then I watched the video about closing. Then I watched this one and he told me to comment, so I am. Hello, I’d love to be lucky enough to have a training call with you one day so I can truly learn how to WIN in WFG. I have big goals, need to be big enough to give money away. Coach able and willing to listen.

Great info! Thank you! I think three of my weaknesses here are : Body language, I cross my arms often coz I don’t always know where to leave them. Not being fully present, I tend to already form a reply in my head when they are still talking Asking questions, when it is a silent person ( like me) I don’t always know what to ask to keep the conversation going. So lot to work on. Thanks again. I love your conversations with your guests.

“People just want to be heard.” So good! That phrase was the greatest point when I trained new hires in customer service. Asking questions and non-verbal communication are great, too, Ed! On the flip side, I tend to finish sentences and offer word selections, which is terrible! I have GOT to do better with this. Also, I would be multi-tasking while my hubs was talking to me. He often would ask me, “can you just stop and look at me?”😬 Ouch! I’m learning to stop being busy and just give my undivided attention to my hubs when he is talking-he has noticed! As I switch careers, this is such a tremendous teaching with so much value, that I can move to my new niche. And this was TOTAL motivational Ed!! Thank you!!

Another Great Lesson. A Slogan you might of heard in your home at one time is, LISTENT TO LEARN AND LEARN TO LISTEN. People love being heard when you allow them. This was a Game Changer for me in all areas of My Life. Thank you JS

Ed, you are an incredible listener. I see how engaged you are when people speak. You remind me of my best friend since 2nd grade w whom I've since lost. He was always inquisitive and went deep into conversation and you could honeslty feel he cared about the deeper issues of what's going on inside Manny.. as I'm listening to you and writing this, you are perfect even in your interruptions.. lol. Your engaged in the mind.. you feel the next thought. It's a gift you have.. and you WILL change the landscape of this country. You have already put a huge dent in it and I think your just getting warmed up! God bless you my amazing new bestie! Ha!

Great video. I used to finish people's sentences for them. I thought that indicated I was listening. As Ed said, that's not typically true. One time, my girlfriend said, "Let me finish". She was annoyed I was feeding her words and finishing her sentence. I shut up and listened thereon. Our communication was way better. Ed's advice is spot on.
