Do you still use this method Nate? I auto gain stage at start of every project and want to ensure I'm not killing the dynamics too much

I do, it really depends though on how good or bad your dynamics are on the recording your working on. For the most part if it's required to leave it super dynamic, than I'd use it sparingly or none at all. But for most of the music I mix unless its my own, the dynamics are all over the place with no compression used on the recording on the way in. So I find myself using this trick. Hope that helps.

​@@CrossbeatsMusicProduction quick update after using on 3 or 4 recent projects. this method has really helped tame my sometimes wild vocals. wont always use but is a good solid method of keeping in check.
