Probably my favorite pole to catch catfish on is an old 6' Browning siloflex with the ole' pistol grip and a beat to death Zebco 33. 10 pound mono. I love using heavier poles, longer, better reels, but for sheer enjoyment, I love that Browning! Might be the tip on that pole is light enough I never lose one?! Get you that Adrilagen!

I have more issues when there’s a lot of Shad present than when it isn’t. They just don’t have to move as much to find food. However I won’t turn down some Shad for bait later on 😂

I never used a cast net. I've been using small hooks with small live worms using a 7 inch leader with a size 6 hook tied to main line. I put a Bobber after i measure 18 inch mark a place my bobber on an try catching smaller bait fish like a red breast sun fish. I'll cut the sun fish in small chunks. I use that to catch bigger fish 😊

Pflueger reels are underpriced, underrated one of the best. I got no use for a ultra light with cats. A 2lb cat can max bend a UglyStik 6’6” medium. I use 8lb mono . I just dont like braid. Cats around here can easily snap you off without a swivel leader.

Can't beat the wild caught ones. Problem is they are making it where they won't be edible very much longer. Lake all around me have put out warnings on eating the catfish.

I find that lake cats taste about the same as farm raised if the lake is clean, but river cats definitely taste a little stronger than both farm raised/lake cats.

I will NEVER understand what is 'Finesse' about a rod that DOESN'T HAVE A REEL SEAT. LOL Whoever designed that rod is doing it WRONG if you ask me. Taping a reel to a cork handle gives you MUCH less feel for the action than a reel seat that allows the hard frame of your reel to contact the blank directly and transfer line strikes to the reel in one hand, and the rod in the other - which is VERY important for good Finesse fishing where the strikes can be very light.
