Easy way to Measure and mark ceramic tile for cuts using another tile so now tape measure is necessary.
Marking ceramic tiles for cuts can be challenging with a ruler or tape measure, here i offer a simple method to easily mark tiles for cutting that will give you the exact size for the cut. There is no measuring and no complicated tools, just a simple piece of tile. This method is easy and will be possible to mark almost all your tiles using this simple process.

I use this method a lot with vinyl but with tile I usually do the ol trick where you mark the lines on the sides of the tile and then connect them all.

That is a complicated way just use the cardboard box the tile came in and make a template of the cut. It’s so easy! Do this with tile, laminate, vinyl planks

Hey Sal, I just tiled a bathroom floor with a corner tub and shower build out so the 12x24 tiles I was using had to be cut on angles to match up with the previously tiled shower stall and tub buildout. Do you have a trick to get perfect diagonal cuts on rectangular tiles butting up to different angles of walls and such? I see tutorials for square tiles but none for rectangular tiles, I had a heck of a time getting exact cuts especially in corners where the tiles where not perpendicular to either "wall".

Awesome tip. I noticed you always use ditra. Is installing tile over ditra slower than over backerboard? I noticed backerboard has a smooth surface and back-buttering of tile is not required. In the other hand, ditra has waffles that you have to fill and back-buttering of the tile is required otherwise the tile won't lock into the ditra. Doesn't all that filling with thinset and back-buttering make the job go a lot slower when using ditra?

+dude conta deis Yes Ditra is actually superior to any backer board, in fact any uncoupling type of underlayment is better than any backer board. If you watch this video I explain how it works, kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6G7dounl81qpc0 As to back buttering tiles, I would suggest that it is always advisable to back butter no matter what surface you are tiling over, it promotes a much better bond, also flat troweling the surface to be tiled is a good idea, it keys the thinset to the surface. When you take all that into consideration, there really is no difference in the time it takes to install the tile on Ditra, except of coarse the much reduced time it takes to install the Ditra itself as compared to Backer board not to mention the weight that you don't have to lug around.
