I have found that making the eyes look off left or right helps with the look. Looking straight on sometimes gives the minis a “deer in headlights” look.

It definitely can! Usually if I am pointing them straight ahead, I try to make sure they touch up against the top eyelid, and that the pupil isn't too small. That helps a bit! But aiming off to one side also looks really good and helps add some visual interest!

I just started an Imperial Guard army and this will help tremendously! Thank you!

Of course! You're welcome! Another viewer mentioned Micron pens as well, so if you happen to have those then they should work too!

I've been using "Pigma Micron" pens for my miniatures and they are really great as well. Incredibly fine tip and very good ink, that (afaik) doesn't easily bleach out over time. And they are cheaper than the Gundam pens - for the money of one Gundam Pen, you can pick up a box of Microns with a variety of colors. A friend of mine uses a metallic-silver sharpie (Edding) to paint the edges of blades and it looks really amazing and gives them a very "sharp" look.

Oh very nice! I already had some Gundam pens from trying to panel line some Gunpla, but I know at least one other person had recommended Micron pens as well. I might have to pick them up!

@@ShinisTabletopAdventures You get a box of Microns in multiple colors for the price of one Gundam Pen, so that's really neat, but I have no clue how they'd stand up to one another in a direct comparison. That could be an interesting topic for a video, see how they compare when both are new and then use them both for some time, see how they handle wear and tear and see how well the ink retains its color when exposed to sunlight.

Same way i do eyes. if you can't find a gundam markers i use micron pens. Then some time hit my eyes with a semi gloss varnish.

Oooh! The micron pens are a great idea too! I hadn't thought about them! I already had some Gundam pens from panel lining one of my Gunpla, and thought "I wonder if these will work?" Sometimes experimenting with your tools is the best way to find a neat trick!

@@ShinisTabletopAdventures I just came up with some thing. I think they make colored gumdam pens. use that to make the iris and then a black dot in the middle for a pupils.
@ShinisTabletopAdventures8 ай бұрын
Oh that's a great idea! Yeah they do make a few colors, but I wonder if other markers like Copic would work too?

The pens are a great idea! So far I've always sharpened toothpicks and a dot of black paint.
@ShinisTabletopAdventures8 ай бұрын
Thanks! That's what I used to do as well, but I think the pen is more natural for me to hold and use.

@@ShinisTabletopAdventures Also, the toothpick dries up so quickly, it really becomes a chore.
