It's basically a check on my driving history since I put in for a RCA position here in Tampa. That said, is it safe to say that the background check has begun?

I just took the test. Here is my advice for the memory part. First: They will give you a practice part to memorize that doesn't count towards anything. USE ALL OF THIS TIME because the the table they give for the practice one is the same for the real one. I wouldn't even bother trying to fill in the answer, just keep going over the table. For me, the first thing I memorized was whether the street was in A, B, or C. So you'll usually get 3 that are in 2 different rows (e.g. A and C) and 2 that are in 1 row only. Memorize the ones that have two first. If you can't remember all the numbers, here is a way to remember just 3 numbers. Say you get Cleveland Rd. 3001-4999 in A and 5000-8742 in C. Just remember 5000 : If it's over 5000 put C, under put A. Do this for each road that appears in two rows. If you do this plus remember the 2 that are only in 1 row and put that row each time they come up, you will get at least 60% or more even. D will not come up that often (and half the time it came up, it was a road that wasn't on the list) so if it's a struggle for you, don't bother with the limits (e.g. 3001 and 8742 for the example above).If memory doesn't come natural to you or you don't have a method and practice, trying to remember too much will confuse your mind and you'll mix up numbers; so if this is the case for you, I recommend the method I just suggested. If you can get about 5 numbers down along with the rows each one are on, you'll get at least 70%. So if Manx St. 7-99 only appears in B and Ginger 497-1134 in C, remember one of the limits. For Ginger, you might just remember 500. If it's below, Chances are it is D. For Manx I thought of a $100 bill with a little corner out of it (meaning it's less than 100). If you want to do really good, you'll come up with different associations for each number. This takes a lot of practice however. For the method that most memory champions use, check out a video by memory champion Ronnie White (just type in "how to memorize numbers"). Of course, if you just want to pass the test by not bombing the memory part and don't want to put in a lot of time, try the method above with just memorizing 3 numbers.

Just took the exam today...my hardest part was the address checking part. About 40 questions in I didnt realize some of the addresses added just an "S" at the end of the road so it would be wrong so I went back to the beginning and went through all of them again and then continued on...there were quite a few i had to change...either way i ran out of time and 6 were left empty. I still say that was where my greatest hit in points came from cause even going through some of them again when I started rushing towards the end most of them just started looking all the same to me. I think as time kept going down it put a little more pressure than I thought I would have over answering 60 questions in 11 minutes. If I didn't need to go back and recheck those other 40 answers I would've been able to finish it but I would've had a hand full more wrong in that area...so I rechecked the first 40 and had to rushed the last 20 but only got 14 of those down not knowing if I was 100% right. Six were left blank. This was the only part were I felt pressured. After that you should be good. The second part was easy as hell with the forms and boxes. Double checked them to make sure and still had time left over. Should have gotten everything there right. The third part coding with the chart and route labeling was actually way easier than I thought it would be. They used the same chart multiple times so by the time you have to memorize the chart it should be for the most part memorized in your head already. I did take my time making sure I did have it memorized though. There were at least five different questions where the address number between route B and C were only off by less than 5 so that was kind of tricky but I do feel like I aced that as well because I knew the number range and where it stopped already. They also had random addresses that weren't apart of the route and then a few numbers that weren't within the range of the numbers for the routes so there were more does not belongs than I thought there would be. I don't know what exactly hurt my score so much but I know I should have gotten everything in sections 2 and 3 right. So unless I just royally screwed up in the first section more then I think I did, I feel like the psychological part you take at home also plays a factor into your score. So without any studying and only watching this video once just to see what it was going to be like...I got an 82.60.

Just took my test today. My only tip to those who are expecting to take the test is not to over thinking it. Just be familiar with the test samples on some websites, they're obviously not exactly the same, but pretty damn spot on. Look for a good technique that would work FOR YOU to memorize and stick with it. No need to stress it out and over-study since there will be totally different details on the test anyway. Heck, I only tried 3-5 times on the training website with so-so score and realized that I got the info I needed. Took the test, was over thinking over few stuffs on the very first test and couldn't make it on time, shit I thought. Moved on and did faster on the next one, was really easy there.. but then and got stuck on the next one.. so I filled it up in random copy-ing the "right answers" at the bottom part of the page like an idiot since I missed the previous instruction to memorize before starting out, oh well. Then I hit the last part which was the hardest one, I was crossing my fingers then. Finished and walked in dread back to my car then checked my phone for email and didn't expect to even pass at all. Got 81.70 score, not too bad for lack of effort. Now the waiting game has begun. But yeah, the hardest part was that last part where you have to remember the address details and sort them out without the info. Just look for a good strategy to memorize. I guess that would be the real life situation at the office. Good luck!

Exam tips: Hello all. I passed the exam today with 84.5. Couple of tips: Addressing, do not count punctuation as different in the addresses (i.e. AVE v/s AVE.) added Periods are OK. Watch out for misspelled words! Do not spend too much time on one address. I went at a really quick pace to answer all and only had 30 seconds left. Forms: Remember, names can be printed or a signature (i.e. How many areas should contain a name? Could be one if just a printed name or could be two if the form also requires a signature). This type of question wasn't on my test but it was on a practice test I took. Coding: Try to get through the first coding section as quick (but as accurate) as possible; before clicking on the Finish button. This will give you more time to memorize the coding; it is the same one to be used during the memory portion. NOTE: Between the coding exams you will have 5 solid min. to try to memorize the coding before taking the memory portion. Good luck to everyone!

The memorization Section was actual test from the facility. The second part of the test is looking at three different forms each form you answer 10 questions and you have 15 mins to answer 30 questions and u read the questions and look at the forms carefully then u have no problem answering it. It is little harder than the practice test. The actual test just likes the practice test.

@JG-tk7cn7 жыл бұрын
Just took it this afternoon and got an 85%. I did that practice test a few times yesterday and once this morning. It helped me so much!! Offhand, I maybe studied for 30-50 minutes. This was my strategy- On Section A- Pay attention to the state abbreviations! When I had time to go back, I caught around 6 mistakes I made most of which were on the states that I didn't catch before (like AK and then AR in the address). On Section B- It was pretty easy honestly. Just use left over time to go back. When I went to check for mistakes, I don't think I got a few errors. On Section C (Coding)- " " On Section D (Memory)-The 5 digit numbers were difficult to remember, so I just didn't attempt that. When you do the coding section it actually is practice for part D. I had 2 street names that were numbered like 10th St (in 2 sections) and 75th St (1 section) and I believe 1 named streets like Smith Rd. which was like 75th St., only in 1 section. I didn't try to memorize the streets that only would be in 1 section. I focused on the streets that were in 2 sections. The numbers were tricky. Of the 8 streets that they give you, I only loosely remembered 4 of them. I remember by just looking at the first digit. I knew again that it wasn't a perfectly strategy because you could have something like 2075-2120 Smith Rd. and then 2121-2300 Smith Rd. so again not perfect. On that section they add your points based on accuracy so if you have no idea, don't select anything. The ones that that I wasn't sure about I could narrow between 2 choices so I decided to just guess and not leave anything blank. Anyway of the 36 questions on that section, there were maybe a little bit less than half where I was between choices. They did give you a few minutes to just study the coding. When I was trying to remember some of the info, I used my fingers pointing at the screen after I closed my eyes to try to remember. I'm not sure if I'm that much of a visual learner or more body kinesestic. I just know for me in school and in college, it helped me to retain information by writing things by hand, versus typing up notes.

I gave them permission and I received a interview invite the next day. I guess the processing went so fast because I've been working at my current job for 10yrs and I've never been out the U.S who knows. But anyway I'm scheduled to have a interview next week I'm hoping I ace that too. Thank you once again your post on the practice test was a big help.. 👌👍✔

Took the exam last week and I watched your overview twice before going to take the exam.. I passed it with a 87.5 + 5 point Veteran preference = 92.5! Only issue is an accident on my record from Oct. 2014 on my 5 year driving record that might affect me getting hired but my scores are valid till 2024.

No. I didn't bother with that.

Update: Nope! Despite this high score, I was not hired because of the accident from Oct. 2014 on my 5 year driving record. No explanation given other than a copy of the background check sent to me by mail. So my only options now are to apply for a PSE Clerk or custodial positions that don't require a driving record or wait till Oct. 2019 and try again :/
@kim-alabama58536 жыл бұрын
Was the accident your fault.
@rvr26 жыл бұрын
It was the drive in front of me texting and slamming on her brakes because of construction traffic and caused me to run into the back of her so it was ruled my fault. I did apply for a PSE position at a nearby post office so I'm waiting to see what happens with that one..

Looks like the test hasn’t changed much in the last 20 yrs. I took the test in 1999 for VA and scored a 92. I was upset bcuz back then you had to score at least 95 to have a chance of getting hired quickly (because they start with people who score 100 and work down). 6 months later I scored a 99 on the test for MD. Ultimately I was hired as a clerk in VA 18 months later. Not sure if the hiring process has changed, but I would assume a score in the mid 80s would not be high enough to get hired. Though I could be wrong as maybe people in general don’t score as high nowadays or there’s a lot less people taking the test.

i took my test with a 75.60 so what its this mean i didnt pass or what ?? A score of "Ineligible" means that you did not qualify on this examination and you will not receive further consideration for that job. If your score is a number, that means you remain eligible for further consideration for that job. This examination result is valid through the expiration date shown above. You cannot retake this exam before the retest date shown above. To retake the exam, you will need to apply after the retest date to a new job posting that requires the exam. Do they allow for pencil and paper during the memory part of the test? I don't mean during the 5 minute thing but the part when you actually select answers. I've taken quite a few exams that relied on memory before, but you were given pencil and paper immediately when they said GO! I'm very much the type of learner who would need to write down in my own writing (pencil not type) information to actually learn in.

Hey, man. I don't know why, but for whatever reason, in the 'Address Checking' portion of the test, I'm topping out at like 45 questions answered. I feel like I'm moving relatively quickly. I tried your zip code first strategy, but it's not really helping. Any other tips? Should I just try to speed read through it, and take my chances that way? My score is a 56 in the address checking portion, a 96/67 in the coding and memory portion and a 97 in the form completion portion. Do you reckon those scores are good enough to pass? Thanks for this video, by the way. I'm hoping it will eventually help me get through this. I really need this job. P.S. I'm unable to see the timer once I scroll down after question 10 or so. It's quite annoying, and it makes the test harder, in my opinion. Does the real test have a timer that you can view at all times?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I ended up marginally improving my score in the address section, and I was already technically passing, so I was stoked to take the exam. Fast forward a couple days, and they email me back saying I didn't meet the requirements. Unfortunately, I think it was because of the technicality of me not having a legal driver's license for at least the past 2 years--I've only had mine for 8 months. Anyway, thanks again for your helpful video. It definitely helped me prepare for the real thing, had I been able to take it--I passed the practice exam each time. Have a good one, man, and good luck with the post office.
