It's actually kinda dumb to use a grinder. The speed of the grinder creates a lot of friction which heats the fine tip of an axe quite easily, making it softer and therefore not lasting as long. The steel of an axe is hardened and tempered to give it a specific hardness and grinding it quickly ruins it. Best to use a file and some wet stones by hand.

@@creationholic101 to sharpen that axe is was not necessary to drip holes in the axe or the stone. One would think that drilling those holes would compromise the integrity of the axe itself. Whether you're sharpening at 15 or 20 degrees a wedge would have worked fine.

You may have achieved getting the correct sharpening angle, but: (1.) you damaged the head of the axe by drilling the holes! (2.) and, the eye-screw jiggled too much to have acquired sufficient stability in stabilizing the correct angle!

I use any big flat stones to file the knives or axe like items. Only thing to learn here is to use water to cut down heat and friction and using wd40 to make it rust free. Else screwing a home in axe is bad idea since it spoils or weakens the strength of axe and even damages it.

I'm sorry to hear that. How can I make future videos more valuable for you?

@@creationholic101 most people prefer faster, easier more effective ways of doing things. Time is precious. There are so many faster easier more effective ways of sharpening an axe than what you have shown in your video, as you can see from the comments. Have you ever heard of KISS theory? It stands for ‘keep it simple stupid’. The simplest solution is often always the best. If you can come up with fast, easy solutions to everyday tasks, and keep your videos short and simple, you might get a better response. Hope this helps.
