Loved this video! Talking in accents and simply doing silly things is one of my absolute favorite engagement strategies. What a privilege it is to be able to be silly with children every day 🫶

My favourite smell is the smell of a bookstore - you’re definitely not alone!

I also love smelling books, both new and old. Never change, Michelle. Thanks for the ideas! I love using a simple read aloud or icebreaker games when time allows, or just simply asking them for one good thing or get to know you questions. Anything that's both fun and engaging, especially just fun things after they finish their work if time allows, brings more joy to everyone in the room I feel.

My school requires us to use a "protocol " which is a kind of action or game for every lesson. We have "turn & talk", "pinky partners", " back to back, face to face", etc. That sometimes helps with engagement.

Thank you for sharing! It is always good to change it up a bit. You have great ideas! From the library to the engagement ideas. One engagement idea that comes to mind is playing bingo. The kids love it! You can put in the space whatever you are teaching like science vocabulary or math problems. You can really adjust it however you like😊

What if for the science investigation, students put a sponge in a cup and clay in another cup, pour the same amount of water into each cup. Give it 30 sec to absorb, pull the sponge and clay out and pour the remaining water into the granulated cylinder to measure the amount of water not absorbed. It should be a better representation. Thoughts?
