That jig that you made for the mortises on the legs was very clever. Well done.

Just enough sat signal to watch this! Another interesting functional build. I'm always a bit twitchy with very specific dimensions, love your straightforward approach.

Bondo and I go way back. I don't keep it in the shop, but yes it would work for this.

A nice little cabinet, I think it looks pretty good in a black colour, bit of a shame about the voids, pretty much stuffed up the door hope you are able to patch it ok, although black is not always a forgiving colour when it comes to showing up blemishes etc 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺

Black is the worst in this shop, it shows everything.

Glad I watched this: I'm taking note of the spline method, because, so far, all my hardwood-edge-banding has sucked due to the banding moving. Yeah, those bandy clamps aren't as great as they say they are.

Nice size cabinet. I have increasingly seen defects in what used to be regarded as “cabinet grade” plywood. They are just under the veneer so it’s hard to notice them until you start finishing the assembled piece. I think that may be what you observed.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks4 ай бұрын
The past year or so almost every sheet I get has voids or de-lamination issues. My main issue is there are hidden until the moisture in the finishing phase finds them.

Cabinet grade ply from the box store is often just like this. The box store standard cabinet grade makes it realistic a misnomer. The best kind of cabinet grade ply is not typically stocked at the box stores but is more plentiful at specialty lumber stores. Hyde Park Lumber in Cincinnati is one such place. The veneers are a hair thicker, which is a lot considering how thin they are, the core is better quality, and it has no voids in the 1-2 plys directly under the veneer. However what used to be $55 at the box store and $90 at the specialty stores is now $80 at the box and $200 at the specialty store.

I can't help but notice, your pants and shirts look a lot like all mine. Covered with glue and paint. Yours is so much better shaped though.

Caitlin, I really enjoy your work. I like most people like to look at the other person's shop. I try and look behind you. The set-up table behind your saw did you make that? It looks like the type of tables we had in shop class in school. Thick butcher block.

you should use, mdf for your door it will be more likely to remain flat
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks4 ай бұрын
I avoid MDF at all cost. The dust is gnarly, I would have had to buy A sheet of it instead of just use what I have, and the door is already on the heavy side so MDF wasn't happening.
