Very nice work! I’m 100% back to vinyl at home. I restored a 1967 Garrard table and a 1952 RCA combo 45 player, AM/FM unit. Super loud vacuum tube greatness! You really paid respect to the original design, looks excellent!

Thank you for sharing the rehab of the retro stereo cabinet. You did a wonderful job. Looks great, some very good ideas to update it. Glad you kept as much as you could. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia

Interesting, I assumed that you would remove the old speakers. Finished unit is gorgeous. Fold out doors are perfect. Thanks

Perhaps a light touch on the new walnut strips with Osmo Wood Wax would even out the tones?

That's an impressive piece of "up-cycling". In the UK , "radiograms" as they were called, often used a terrible speaker material called Tygan It was textured and had some sort of a plastic / paint finish on it. Truly grotesque,. I've built my own speakers for a long time so I avoid the issue. The self adhesive finish looks great, very much in keeping with the piece. I hope it sounds good, those drivers look OK.

Good morning 🌅, Honey B, That looks 👀 very nice, great work of up cycling, 🚴 😮😂, old school vinyl very good, I have hundreds of LPS, and literally hundreds and hundreds of 45, somebody was going to throw them out a few years ago, I didn’t even think about making a piece of art out of them, when I finally get back to work after my Op for my CTS, I’m hoping to finish making some furniture to display my hi-fi equipment, as when I’m not watching KZbin ha ha, I listen to music, NAD , LINN LP12 , Very large Transmission Line loudspeaker cabinets SEAS DRIVERS 150w , the speaker cabinets I made a long time ago, At the end you said that you could not play any music, 😮, you could’ve sang, 😂, ❤ from France.

Beautiful job to give it more years of life. Don't know why but I had 'Heard it through the grapevine' in my mind for the first record. How did you latch the top in the end? Thanks for sharing.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks8 сағат бұрын
I still have to deal with knobs for the doors and the latch. It stays in place long enough for a photo but will eventually need a catch. The copyright on the 20 seconds of audio is annoying to say the least.

Thank you for an excellent video explaining how to change the wick - I live in the wilds where it gets really cold, so I use one of these heaters in the main hallway. Here is a great idea to remove the kerosene smell. Place a large two handled saucepan on top of the heater. Half-fill the saucepan with about two litres (a quart) of water and drop about 6 drops of Clove Oil into the water (or eucalyptus or peppermint, etc). Then let the water simmer. The space is filled with a wonderful uplifting scent from the water vapour that the simmering water gives-off. You could even use Sandalwood or whatever 'essential oils' you prefer. Once again - many thanks for making a great video - much appreciated as I have just ordered a new wick.

Love the bed. But especially that the legs are inset. Almost broke a hip when in the middle of the night, half asleep I had to go to the bathroom and my foot caught on the leg of the bed. Good thing my bladder held, or it would be one more insult to my already bruised body!

In all honestly I am not great with species that aren't my geographic domestics. Years ago I bought a small veneer sample kit off of Amazon that helps with identification. Stuff that has a finish on it can be even harder because it hides all the unique characteristics. For example people that restore MOD furniture for a living say some of it is not walnut but actually teak or rosewood. The doors to me look like a different species but I can't pin down if its walnut or rosewood.

Man , does that look really cool ! That stain glass against the Mahogany and overall design shape of the Aedicule frame and overall size of the project itself , really complement each other. Whenever you may ever happen to drive by it you should have a big smile of accomplishment of how cool that looks. You really did a great job with this. Maybe you’ll end up completing that whole side of that wall building more of these. Enjoy your Sunday and coming week.

P. S. Nice to see the Natural color of the Mahogany
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks4 күн бұрын
I'm happy they kept in natural. But, originally they had said it would be painted white. I made a couple of design/construction choices based on the fact I thought it was going to be painted. And seeing those joints stick out now that it's not breaks my heart a little bit. You just tackle things different when you know they won't be painted.

I totally understand what your saying when someone changes their mind. But that’s on the client, most definitely not on you. You can only go by what they say at the time of the commitment as agreed upon. But regardless in the end , you did an excellent job! , as well as having to figure out how to finesse some of the build. Like you , so glad that they didn’t end up painting this. Great job girl. Have a great day today. May Santa bring lots of goodies.

Nice conversion of the old stereo. Looking forward to seeing it done. A few years back I converted an old broken console TV to a storage cabinet for my mom. She didn't want to get rid of it because she liked the way it looked, and I got tired of seeing it taking up space in her living room.

Brilliant repurposing of your Grandparents midcentury record cabinet! My grandparents also had a record cabinet only theirs had a lighter stained cabinet similar but was taller and like yours didn’t offer much storage. Very cool with the awesome pocket doors! Love how you solved that puzzle

Thanks! Because of the thickness of the doors getting them just right was a pain, but worth it.

Very impressive! I have a question about the general theory though, _every_ commercial double pane window ends up fogging _anyway_ eventually, leaving mineral streaking on the interior, meaning condensation with minerals _always_ gets in, ruining the window clarity. I was wondering whether it makes sense to not worry so much about a perfect air-seal, as this is what leads to the inevitable failure of even commercial windows, instead allow a slight air exchange, so that the window is able to dry between panes when to prevent condensation build up in the first place? Yes, yes... this would hurt the r-value, blah blah, but not much, as I'm just talking about incidental imperfections in the seal.
