This video was *extremely* helpful to me. I know you're using zbrush, but it applies to my blender work. I've been using blender for over a year now and I primarily create items and figures for printing. Most sculpting tutorials and workflows cater to character design and animation. This workflow is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Oh my god I had no idea you had this video made. Your sculpts are an inspiration and part of the reason I want to become a miniature sculptor, a specific workflow for figure design is amazing!! Thank you!

As someone who also came from illustration into 3d, it was really helpful to see your workflow. Thank you for sharing!

I just started playing around with sculpting miniatures and this video was truly great. There's even a lot you don't say but show off with your work that is really helpful. I Keep it open in a tab so I can go back and reference it every now and then. Besides that, it's also a cool figure and a fun one to watch come out of those spheres :) There's still some magic here that I don't understand but that's the fun of learning. Thanks! :D

I just found your channel through this video and I subscribed! Amazing work! I'm using ZBrush to make articulated action figures, sculpting stylized organic characters and turning them into toys. This video was helpful! Thanks again! 🙂

Doing stuff like this was always something I wanted to do. I always loved 3d art, and enjoyed working in 3dsmax for like the one course I had taken. Unfortunately the 'Animation and Graphic Gaming' degree I was in was 99% programming which I had zero interest in and moved on to other things. Would still love to get to grips with this type of software someday when I have more time.

Nice work Sean. Cool to see your process, I like the illustrative and geared to painting approach. I see a lot of stuff with so much detail it would have to be a 72mm figure to see it.

Do you use multiple platforms to sculpt depending on what you’re making? What are some of your favorite sculptures?
@MetalKingStudio5 ай бұрын
I use ZBrush exclusively. There are some other programs that can help with engineering for print. But all my creative work is done in ZBrush.

Just to ask, how long did this miniature to sculp? Hope you do more video as I find them informative 👍👍
@MetalKingStudio3 жыл бұрын
This one took about 4 hours to sculpt. Some take a lot longer. This figure is fairly simple. He's mostly cartoony muscles and a big sword. There is a bunch of planning that happens before, at least if you're doing your own character designs, and a lot of steps that come after as you get ready for production. But the main sculpture step doesn't take too long.

@HasteHobbies8 ай бұрын
Which version of zbrush are you using? Paid or free or subscription?
@MetalKingStudio8 ай бұрын
I bought it ages ago so I have the full version. I'm not sure how the features break down in the new system. Dynamesh didn't exist when I started! And that tool is integral to my process now. That said, I don't use a lot of the powerful features ZBrush has to offer. Most of them don't relate to model making, and I've been doing this long enough that I am stuck in my ways. I bet the more basic versions have most of what you need. But the tools for decimation and 3d print export may be missing and super important if you're trying to make toys.
