See, this is why it's so important to understand who is reviewing a game. Many people here have pointed out that the IGN and Gamespot reviews are way lower, but I don't have a frame of reference as to who those reviewers are, so it's hard to gauge exactly what that means. I know Ben Moore's tastes pretty well, so I can safely say that the reasons he loves this game are probably reasons I would dislike it.

easy allies and same with gametrailers of the old always got fan of the series to review the games. There are some pros and cons to that for sure. The reviews are done by people well informed of the series and the reviewers never wish game is different from what it is so they never hate it before they open the box. However the con is because it gets reviewed by fans of the series or genre it never gets a completely objective review from the perspective of a new person.
@JazGalaxy3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I mean, I understand where you are coming from. But Ben seems like an absolute Mark for this project. How subjective can a reviewer be before it’s not really a “review” anymore? I don’t have the answer for that.
@thedapperdolphin15903 жыл бұрын
@@danielgreen4010 Yeah, that’s the problem with reviews in general. It’s basically impossible to objectively review something, and how different aspects of the game get weighed in the final score will vary by each individual. You need someone familiar with the game or genre, but that also means your reviewer is probably biased towards that thing already.
@KLee07233 жыл бұрын
This is why it is important to have different people review something. Not to say you should have someone who hates the series review it, but even new comers to a series could make for useful reviews. They may see something or not like something that someone else does like.

Learn to ignore the scores and actually read the review. I know people want to hear exactly what they want when someone reviews the game that interests them, but reading the actual article usually makes it clear if the score is justified. Yeah, a lot of reviewers nowadays barely know how to play video games let alone judge them objectively, but still the score at the end of the day doesn't mean anything. For some the visuals or the spotty performance might be a deal breaker, for others if they don't understand/like the humor of the franchise will also affect their grade. Even the review above, it doesn't really say that much about the game other than the aesthetics/style/humor. How is the controls, the combat mechanics, game length, visuals in general, sound design, replayability, difficulty. It barely says anything and it ends up giving it a 9.

This game is the reason numeric scores are stupid.
@txcforever3 жыл бұрын
@@JCity17 You hit the nail on the head with this comment. Like how do you rate this with a number? What that number mean to you, the reviewer, and what to your audience? Does a 9 mean you highly recommend it to anyone, that it's a masterpiece in every way, or that you enjoyed it immensely? Because objectively, the game looks last gen even for a Switch game, the story/characters are an acquired taste especially if you are not into Japanese culture, and the combat mechanics are nothing special compared to other franchises. So how do you rate it using a number?

I'll wait for a sale this game I definitely not as polished as the past 2 games and a lot of people are blindly following it because Suda made it

The game looks great but I can't feel some touch of sadness that this is held back by being on the Switch.

It would be held back by being on one of the other platforms. The ports of the previous games were inferior to the Wii originals.

Holy moly, I enjoy this game a lot, from the 80’s/90’s references, to the anime homages, the various inspirations it draws from, but this is a bland open world game, which a mediocre gameplay loop, and weak side content. The charm of this game is what carries it, but it feels like a mid level game made in 2007. I’d give it a 6-7 at best, because giving it a 9 is insane for how much more potential a game like this has.

Giving this game 9/10 is utter madness. It's more like 6,5/10. I had a good time but the lifeless open world, numerous performance issues and bland side missions are a huge issue. The toilet minigame is funny once, then you do it an additional 20 times without any variety. The rest of them are the same.

This open world is as lifeless as any other open worlds
