I was thinking this would produce less fruit but then again, maybe not. the potato would help prevent overwatering and allow for more nutrients to the tomato. The larger tomato leaves would give more sun to the potato as well. They would provide symbiotic benefits to each other.

Wow! what an amazing idea and fantastic test. I noticed at the end, you mentioned that you could have yielded more potatoes if waited a bit longer for the plant to fully develop. From my experience with potatoes, you have to cover the plant´s new growth with dirt as it grows. Perhaps I think that the best way to get maximum yields would be to start the sack with a few "layers" of potato and then graft the tomato, as that one grows fast and tall. You'll ensure you have a few layers of a well stablished potato plant. I'll give it a try myself as soon as possible. Thanks and greetings from Argentina

Hello, your video is very interesting. I worked at a greenhouse for a decade or more, the reason your plant didn't produce so many potatoes is because you buried the splice. When you bury the splice, the scion genetics overide those of the parent root. Effectively, when you buried the jointed part of the plants, the tomato genes took over and potato production was halted or severely diminished. Just something I picked up on the job. Your experiment was successful however, and really got my attention. We used to sell hybrid tomatoes that were grafted on to blackberry roots, had to tell customers not to bury the splice!

Great for those with only a small growing area/balcony etc. Found it interesting as they always say never to grow tomato and potato in the same bed as from same family/or where the other has been planted previously. I would try this, as I am starting a lot of grafting, but my tomato plants grow/produce all year and I would loose them if digging up the potato. A great video non the less. Keep up the good work! I work at a company in the Netherlands and we produced this on a very large scale. Simply done by grafting. (different than this method but with the same intention: using two plants to make one) We sold them mostly in Germany and the UK.

I had a book from 1960 that showed a different method. You make a big hole in a sprouting potato and simply set a started tomato (dirt and all) into the tomato. I don't remember if you have to let the potatoes scab over or if you can start the tomato from dirt originally in the potatoes. I've always wanted to start a bunch and sell them. People would think that it was worst case GMO. 🤪

@@athanasiosmoschos9179 εμβολιασμενα πάνω σε τι;Αν είναι πάνω σε νεροκολοκιθα (φλασκί)θα αποφύγεις οριστικά τον εφιάλτη των ανδρομυκοσεων και θα διπλασιάσεις τη στρεμματικη απόδοση αλλά θα επιρεαστει λίγο η ποιότητα.Αν πάνω σε κολοκύθα της (πίτας) η ποιότητα θα είναι τέλεια με λιγότερη όμως παραγωγή.Μαθε να το κάνεις μόνος σου και μην αγοράζεις.Με λίγο εξάσκηση θα ξεπερνας τα 400 κυπελλακια τη μερα.καλη επυτιχια.

Αυτό που ανέφερες είναι το πιο σωστό πρέπει να μάθω μόνος για ν ξέρω τι μου γίνεται αλλά και να μειώσω το κόστος. Ξέρεις κάποιου είδους σεμινάρια η μπορώ να βρω στο διαδίκτυο τεχνικές?? Μοιάζει με αυτό της πατατοντοματιας η διαδικασία?

@@athanasiosmoschos9179 όχι ακριβώς.Εχει διαφορετική τεχνική.Εγω έμαθα από το περιοδικό -Γεωργια Τεχνωλογια-πριν από 20 χρόνια. Έχει ένα λεπτομερέστατα αυτό. Δεν ξέρω αν το περιοδικό υπάρχει ακόμα.ψαξτο στο ίντερνετ.

That is a fun way to grow food. I would consider that a success for being awesome. The amount of tomatoes and potatoes was pretty small (it would be interesting to see that double plant next to a single of each to compare yields) so it might not be the most efficient way to grow them but I'd be happy with a smaller yield for the novelty of growing them like that.

Да, интересный эксперимент, можно ещё попробовать с баклажаном скрестить). Вроде бы даже кустарники и деревья есть паслёновые, интересно если им привить помидор с баклажаном получится овощное дерево?😁

Vídeo interessante como experiência de cultivo, mas quanto ao benefício, apesar de ter plantado em um único recipiente, uma praga em uma das culturas levaria as duas a perder. Seria interessante uma união entre duas culturas diferentes que levasse ao fortalecimento contra pragas e doenças. Mas parabéns pela iniciativa e pelo vídeo bem explicado.

I don't know but I think the lifespan of the tomato is less than that of the potato. That is why it reached its maximum growth while the potato still needed more time to produce some more tubers. Nevertheless, one of the creative and innovative agricultural techniques ever seen. Thank you, sir.
