Id like to know the real reason for these physicals. Its unconstitutional i feel. They say no drug test but take urine sample and DOT requires that a drug test is done to check for substance. But they say its not a drug test. Something is not right here. Tiu should be able to have your PCP do it. Not a doctor provided by state whos bot going to take your med past at face value. If they find something wribg i wnat my doctor to be present. this is another motive to document state cannabis card patients in case of insurance claims on job. State can't legalize something or put you on certain meds that might affect getting a job. Its not right. This may not be DOT motive but this needs to be looked into. No one touches me unless it's my doctor.

They test for levels in your urine I have went into a dot physical smoking everyday and they didn't test for it now now if it's for and two for one your employer if they are paying for your dot physical can ask them to drug test it as well but you can see on the paperwork you fill out if that's what's going on but if you pay for your own medical card they won't test for it

Hey! Love your videos. I am in Minnesota and havea DOT Physical coming up, the company I am applying to sent me seperate emails about dot physicial and drug screening. I am doing a non dot role but they are still sending me to do a dot physical. Do you think the drug test will be at the dot phys?

I went through partial quad torn surgery. Surgery was 1/2. Got another week of wearing the straight brace. Most likely moving to the less restrictive brace. I need to renew my card by 2/6. Is there going to be a problem being accepted? The only thing I won't be able to do is bend my knee 90 degrees I believe. I can walk, bend over and have normal balance. I will be seeing a surgeon follow up next week and will ask for a note explaining to a DOT Dr.

Specifically you may need a skill performance evaluation by the surgeon. Y=This is up to the medical examiner

You can redo an exam after you get corrective lenses. (it will cost you the price of the exam again though)

@@docbradleydc update: i ended up barely passing, they ran the test twice. I did ask about getting glasses and coming back, they said it was fine and i can just do the eye exam and there were no additional costs.

Yes we will test it and if the doctor feels that there is an issue he/she might send you for further testing.

Hey Doc, I’m trying to get re-certified as an FMCSA examiner (decertified because they say they did not receive my updated license in time). This happened literally a day before I was going to take my 10 recertification test. DOT has my updated license now but I can not get access to do my 10 year retest. I’ve called DOT (option 2) for every day for two months with no response… any back door suggestions?

This happened to about 50,000 examiners (including myself). You have to keep calling them. I had someone calling non-stop for 2 days and they actually did get through once. I was able to then get my issue resolved. They will not return messages or emails however.

We need to sample your urine to check for sugar and blood. Yeah ok...i can produce med records from my doctor. Theyre looking to document those who are using medically and recreationally. They find a way around this by saying its a medical test. So drugs are ok but sugar and blood in urinre.might affect your job performance? Pleeeeeease. Are we this dumb?

So when you test vision, you're only having them read the 20/40 line and then just put down in the form they're vision is 20/40 if that is what they're able to see? I usually have them go as far down as they can but your way is more efficient.
