Actually Peloponnese is an island as well. Literally means the island of Pelopa. Pelopas was the first ever king of Island back to ancient times.

@@Gk-ug6gu Peloponnese is not an island. It is separated by the rest of Greece by a man made canal. The name does mean the Island of Pelopa but it is not an island, in the same way Africa is not an island.

Great idea and I agree. The peloponnese, especially the southern parts in Messinia and Lakonia (Koroni, Stoupa, Methoni, Pylos, Kardamyli, Gythio, Monemvasia, Elafonisos, Areopoli/Limeni, Gorgeous places!

This question actually crossed my mind like I remember saying if I were a Greek, I would maybe live in one of the amazing Greek islands instead of the mainland..will be interesting to get Greek people's thoughts on this! Greetings from ConstantinopolistanbuL 🙌

Thoughts : It all depends on the island... Some islands have everything and are self dependent , like Creta, Corfu, Rhodos, Lesbos - or have basics like Syros, Naxos, Milos, Zante. And then , there are others that have nothing, like Kimolos lol Life in the first ones is chill and nice, with all the positives of cities, but in the others it is very hard . It is like leaving in a secluded village in the top of the mountain where noone can get you, and you have nothing there. When there's even a simple medical emergency and the weather is bad or simply there is no boat coming, the government has to licence a helicopter to bring people to the nearest hospital. Also, teenagers often have to move to eg Athens in order to finish their classes and successfully enter university. Living in the mainland is easier in that regard, because even if you live in a village , the nearest town is at most an hour away by car.

Είχα την ευκαιρία να μείνω στην Σκιάθο για δυόμιση χρόνια του δεκαετία του 1990. Το νησί του πατέρα μου. Ήταν υπέροχα χρονιά όμως γύρισα στην Μελβούρνη και είχα καλύτερες ευκαιρίες για δουλειά.

@@essier119 c'est prévu, on va essayer de venir vivre en Grèce pendant 9 mois, ma femme, moi et les gamins. Mais il y a encore tellement de questions à traiter, d'incertitudes, au niveau administratif toussa, ça n'a pas l'air facile...😞

As a Greek with origins from Heraklion and Alexandroupoli, raised and living in Athens, I could say any of the Greek islands....more relaxed rhytms and peaceful nature. Also a village or a town in Peloponnese or in Macedonia maybe. Everywhere in Greece is calm except the major Greek cities (Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra, Heraklion) because of the more relaxed rhytms. I mean major Greek cities like Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra or Herakleion are really nice and beautiful with many choices, but the quality of life is lower because of the stress and pressure, in my opinion.

Γεια σας φίλοι και φίλες βλέπουν "Easy Greek" ! 😊❤️ Είμαι ο Ντανιέλ- είμαι από Ισραήλ 🇮🇱 , Δεν θα ζήσω στο κάποιο νησί(δεν στην Ελλάδα και ούτε σ' άλλο μέρο στον κόσμο) , φόβαμαι να ζω στο μέρο χωρίς πολλά μαγαζιά, νοσοκομείο, μικρό... ομολογώ ότι δεν θα θέλω να ζήσω στη πόλη μεγάλη- για παράδειγμα Αθήνα , νέο ιορκ , ή ούτε στην Τελ Αβίβ . Νομίζω ότι πόλεις είναι δεν μεγάλη μα δεν μικρή επίσης είναι οι καλύτερους μέρους να στους ζήσω . Η εξήγηση μου δεν τελειώνει εδώ , μα τα Ελληνικά λόγια στο μυαλό μου τελειώσουν - ελπίζω εσείς παιδιά με καταλαβαίνετε... ΓΕΙΑ ΧΑΡΑ ΚΑΙ ΚΑΛΟ ΒΡΑΔΥ ΓΙΑ ΟΛΟΥΣ !!!

If you are living in a big island there's plenty you can do and meet new people. However the reason why many people from very small islands choose to live in bigger places is because of small community not so open minded and also lack of services like discussed in the video. I would prefer to live somewhere like Evia, close to mountains and sea, close to Athens and calm down place.

η αθηνα πλεον ετσι οπως ειναι τα πραγματα και η κατασταση τα τελευταια χρονια ειναι καλη μονο για βολτα. να πας λιγο να κανεις οτι κανεις που δεν υπαρχει αλλου η δεν υπαρχει σε μεγαλη κλιμακα αλλου και να φυγεις.. πλεον η αθηνα δεν συνισταται και δεν ενδεικνυται για ζωη εκτος απο ελαχιστες εξαιρεσεις. εννοειται ειναι πολυ καλυτερη η ζωη στην επαρχια απο πολλες αποψεις.
