Unfortunately one of my recommended store for lower quantity card stock went out of business in 2021. My current go-to supplier is (lower cost but you have to commit to higher quantity): www.thepapermi...
It took me a couple of years before I started buying card stock in bulk once I committed to a single type of card stock. It's ok to start with small quantity even if the cost per sheet is higher, but do make sure you cards are profitable!

Oh, thank you so much for this video! When I started back in 2017, I outsourced my cards to a printing company and I still have loads of them now. I thought about printing them myself but I have a Canon Pixma Pro-100 and the ink is ridiculously expensive. Like you mentioned, cards are not my main thing but prints, so the printer is great for prints on luster paper but horrible on matte paper, which is what I use for the cards. I've thought about getting an Epson but not only I don't currently have the budget for it, but I also lack the space. I really appreciate your channel and you got a new subscriber. Thank you again!

Just subscribed! I just wanted to give a big thanks to you guys for making this video - it was very helpful for those who wanted to get their own small biz started. Also, I really wanted to add that I really resonate with your background and journey Cathy. I too grew up with an artistic background but felt like I had to conform to societal standards of going after a lucrative professional career (even though my Asian parents never pressured me to do so, but I felt still felt this pressure from society and peers). Being in the final year of my 5-year business degree, I can truly say that I'm not made for the rat-race and the hyper-competitive corporate environment. Hoping that one day I'll find my creative niche and outlet and that everything will work out as well!

I live in Switzerland and they don’t ship the paper you use to Europe. Oh no ☹️ and no mohawk retailer in northern Europe. What is the most important in looking for alternatives? The weight or the structure of the paper? And is there a more globally known paper, you could recommend? Keep up the good work 🙏👍 and thanks for sharing your knowledge!

re-visited this video after this Thanksgiving, and I must say I'm sorry to hear about that cute little dog. but video tape/watercolor never die. one of my inspirations for taking a whack at cartooning/greeting cards, was when my niece asked me to draw my Mum's late, great beloved German Shepherd Blaze, for her own birthday card. I used sharpies and a little bit of colored pencil, on Walgreen's poster board. she cried when she saw it. my mission was not to not draw a German Shepherd, but Blaze (they tend to look alike, we've had 2 of 'em).

@@EasySundayClub I print from Photoshop and I changed my printer settings to borderless with exact paper size. The images which have colors from edge to edge is giving me atleast 0.2-0.3 mm white border. I’ll research about this more. But thanks for your help on answering my question. 😊

Hello! Thank you so much for the helpful videos!! I am wondering if you use the 60lb polar matte or the 88lb for your greeting cards? Thanks!

I prefer the thicker card stock of at least 90-100lb for my watercolor cards. My go to is the 100lb linen.

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for your informative videos! I noticed that you have an Epson printer and use paper that is not Epson branded. I have an Epson too, and thought I had to buy the branded paper so that the colors come out accurately. Have you found that is not the case with your Mohawk paper? Thank you.
@EasySundayClub
@EasySundayClub Жыл бұрын
our mohawk paper for greeting cards don’t produce color as well as our Epson paper mainly because the premium Epson papers we use for art prints are inherently better quality than regular card stock. Art prints are also priced higher and last longer than greeting cards so we feel the slight difference in color don’t make a big difference in their intended purpose.

Great video! Do you have to do a lot of adjustments in Photoshop to have your art print to look as close as your originals? I find that the colour variations make my tests look yucky. I have an Epson wF7700.

Hi there, I bought most of the stuff you recommend to begin, but the Card stock that is linked below isn't available. I would like to know what you recommend to replace that textured linen that Cathy is mentioning about in the video pls. Thanks very much.

I've been told that many shops seem to be out of stock of the linen card stock recently. The best alternative is the solar white linen from Paper Mill store: www.thepapermillstore.com/classic-linen-solar-white-card-stock-8-1-2-x-11-in-100-lb-cover-linen-250-per-package.html but you'll have to purchase pack of 250. I would explore another matte white card stock from the site I linked if you don't want to commit to the high quantity.

Thank you for sharing the information. Do you have tips on how to prevent crumpling/cracking when folding the cards? I use EK Tools score board and no matter how light I score or fold the card it looks very unpolished and can't get a clean sharp fold. Thanks for your help!
@EasySundayClub
@EasySundayClub 3 жыл бұрын
sounds like it could be either the cars stock you use or that you’re folding it the wrong way? You should be folding the card with the creased side facing outward.

you can hire an illustrator or hand letterer, or learn to hand letter your words or in calligraphy if you’re just doing words. A lot of card makers are self taught!

Thank you so much for making these videos!!!!!!

It depends on the profile setting, your art medium and the card stock. We print on uncoated linen card stock using hot press bright paper profile (typically for fine art) for our watercolor art, but it really depends on the three factors combined. Takes some trial and error to get it just right!

Helpful video! How do you stop the cards from becoming wrecked through the post? Also I want to start off with hand painting each card although this is costly because I don’t have a scanner and printer. How much does the usual scanner/printer cost? I’m not looking for anything fancy !

Hi Stardust. These are my fave type of questions because we have a video addressing this! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKmVan-qitiZgJI . There are a lot of scanners and printers and it can be overwhelming to research. The ones we use and recommend is on our resource page: www.easysundayclub.com/pages/resources . It is not cheap but you can maybe find a used one. It was important for us to get the higher quality scanner and printer so it would be more future proof. So far so good :) i have not researched more affordable options but it will be something ill think about for future inquiries.

When you were selecting paper for your cards, did you ever consider greeting card stock that is already scored/sized for cards? I know Red River paper sells some...I wonder if you are not sacrificing paper quality for convenience tho. Wondering if you looked at this and decided to go with normal size paper and do the whole process yourself?
@EasySundayClub
@EasySundayClub Жыл бұрын
good question! We’ve invested in a scoring machine early on so it really doesn’t take much time to score. We buy 500+ card stock at a time and the cost is much much lower than buying pre cut /pre scored paper that even when we hire someone else to do it it’s still worth it. But for starters while building up volume, yes that could help!
