Great stuff Mr. Rob! This has nothing to do with this video, but want again to say " THANK YOU! " for your video on candy boards!!! We built ours and made our candy by your recipe and again has brought our colonies through winter STRONG! Completely eliminates and moisture or the need to open the colonies to feed. There is always plenty of candy left early spring, which as you mentioned can and will be melted down for refeeding. We always leave AMPLE honey on our colonies going into winter, but as you again mentioned the candy boards are just added insurance. ALL of your videos are very helpful and MUCH appreciated! I received mine and I really like it. I treated 4 hives already and it seems to do a good job. Can't wait to finish my other hives. I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. The measuring scoop holds 1 gram and the cap holds 2 grams. Is that correct? So I would use 2 scoops put into one cap for a 2 deep brood box hive. Thanks for a great product Rob.

Yes, they recommend 1 gram per 10 frame deep. So if you are running a double deep that would be 2 grams.

Yes, I have removable trays on our screened bottom boards which I hardly ever remove. Ask yourself, where's the brood and what temps are the bees trying to maintain?

I wasn't sure how much of the oxalic acid vapors would escape out the bottom if I was using a screened bottom board & I wasn't sure how hard the oxalic acid would be on the hardware cloth itself. I thought maybe I could slide something into the entrance to cover the screen until the treatment was finished. Happy Holidays !!!

It's x1 Gram of Oxalic Powder per* x10 Frame eg Langstroth ! * Memo : Remember all Brood Hives are different Sizes, eg a UK National, a x5 Nuc, a Horizontal Hive etc. So don't over dose, your Bees. 👀 So do you Bee Estimates Re Frames : And Work UP or Down x1 Gram per x10 Frames. (Langstroth are Bigger/Longer than other non USA Hives.) 🤔 You can Vap through an reduced Front Entrance. OR Block up the Front, and Vap through a Pre Drilled Hole at the Back. (Some add a Golf Tee/T? As a Plug, for next time.) May live in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 but, I am not, a Golfer ! I have done 2 treatments so far. The first time I did two scoops for two 10 frame deeps. I noticed that the chamber tube filled up with OA crystals that one time and it didn’t seem to fill the entire brood chamber with AO gas. Any known cause for that? The second time I used just one scoop and it seemed slightly better. I let it burn longer though. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

We have found if you preheat. Put empty cap on , light torch and when nozzle gets hot to the touch stop heat and treat as usual.

By heating the nozzle first the oxalic acid doesn't seem to build up as bad. I have spoke with people that use the Provap and have the same concern.

Why would you want to when you can refill the butane?

There is a similar one manufactured in the UK and it has been suggested by customers that a propane torch burns too hot and too quick to be effective
