I love Spanish coffee. It's better than Italian, and in another league to UK!
@diegodejuan4825Ай бұрын
Italians have a stronger coffee culture than us in Spain. Maybe they like their coffee strong but I enjoy their machiattos (café cortado in Spain). About UK I don't know, I haven't been there many times to judge or I just don't remember. Also Nordic countries have a strong coffee culture. Definitely, regular coffee in the US is horrible, mostly water :)

With onion Stuart for me too. I totally agree that you can get many different qualities of tortilla. The small local cafe I used to eat in Lanzarote was run by an elderly Canarian lady who'd make her Tortilla fresh every weekday at round 11am. So if you went in between 12pm and 1pm you could get the most amazing fresh, hot and soft in the centre Tortilla to eat in their fresh hot baguette. Simple but rather tasty. The local Tesco supermarket here in the outskirts of London sell Tortilla from the fridge but it's a rather poor and expensive copy of the 'real' tortilla's eaten fresh in most of Spain.

My favorite breakfast in Spain is tostada con mantequilla y mermelada with a cup of coffee. Simple. Good. And tasty. You would think that would very simple but some cafes can be pretty good. I remember a small cafe in Granada a year ago that is run by an older lady. The butter and mermelada were extra good and the coffee was impressive.

I have made tortilla always with onion with variable success, i also like them slightly undercooked and slightly runny inside.I find coffee in Andalucia generally very good and strong, dont like in glass and dont like "poligono bread". Mercadona make a very repectable onion tortilla which for mass catering isn't like a freshly made one but for 2.50€ for a whole (4 pinchitos) size is value and flavourful.

Too bland for me but then again I have only had tourist versions which is basically an egg omelette with uncooked frozen chips in it. I did my own omelette for lunch for the two of us today. Onion, chorizo, mushrooms, cheese, tomato with two potatoes hand cut into chips, definitely left outside the omelette and baked in a little drizzle of olive oil. I am waiting for my Spanish neighbours to arrive with pitchforks. 😁

😂😂 That's a very light coffee compared to the triple shot black coffee I drink. Often have a Coffee in a glass HOWEVER.. the glasses are double walled so the glass on the outside is room temp and the Coffee inside is HOT or Cold. I drink mine ice cold. Exception is I drink my espressos hot. Definitely Onion and Garlic in the Tortilla, every time. I love these Vids!! 😎

I'm glad we're on the same boat about the onion in tortilla :) However I was surprised you didn't ask for olive oil! I would have asked for the container and literally let it soak in. Then I am ceoliac so that's extra energy for me when on the move! If they are those horrible tiny olive oil containers, then I will ask for at least three, and if any questions asked, I'll pay for four gladly; but I always soak it extra virgin in olive oil ;)

I’m not a fan of omelettes in general. If they’re soft and gently cooked I’ll eat them if they have a tasty filling, but otherwise I’ll pass. Without a runny yolk I find eggs generally tasteless. In Penang they do the runniest eggs on a light toast and with white pepper and a splash of soy sauce, they’re delicious.

@@goldgeologist5320 More a sort of very, very soft boiled eggs. They're put into a hot water and left to slowly cook in their shells and then cracked over the toasted bread. There are youtube videos of how it's done, but it's a bit of a faff, so I have them for breakfast when visiting Penang.

"Cocina gallega - ESPECIALIDAD EN PULPO A LA GALLEGA" in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, I don't trust that place That coffee is dark not because it's strong, it's dark because it's "torrefacto", and strong too but en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torrefacto I hate that king of coffee, I prefer natural/normal coffee, as many people here in Spain. Torrefecto is more common in the south of Spain, it's bitter and tastes bad, I don't understand. You can also order natural coffee instead of roasted (torrefacto) coffee in almost all bars. If I want natural but they only have torrefacto I'd better look for another bar !IMPORTANT: spanish omelette doesn't need to reheat, NEVER needs to reheat. It's quite the opposite: you cook it, eat it afterwards or let it sit for an hour or even until the next day, and the next day is even better, like bolognese sauce, it needs to reseat (is that the correct word?)
