I like how they employ a lot of old people. I know having jobs for the young is very important but its nice to see there are places that will employ older people. A lot of old people are not ready to retire and are super bored, get depressed or suffer financially and need to keep working so I really appreciate that. It also guarantees that the food is extra good it seems! Who doesn't like a grandma made lunch?

To be fair, some people will wait an hour to sit down at a chain restaurant where most of the food is usually frozen for long periods before it gets to them... but at least some of that food is hard to replicate in taste. Most of the foods in this place are so simple, inexpensive, and non-time consuming that I'd find it hard to imagine why anyone would bother.

In many of the southern or black homes there are no cookbooks. Most of it has been passed down from generation to generation and everyone cannot cook. It isn't as easy as reading a cookbook for many people. I wouldn't call it cooking if you don't know how to properly season food. Seasoning food seems to be an issue in the north and parts of the northwest and southwest.

I'm sure their compensated appropriately. It's no like we live in NORTH KOREA where you DON'T have a choice of where you work and if you don't like it you BETTER NOT speak about out. You could have yourself and (3) generations of your family thrown in a concentrating camp for "TREASON" to starve abd performs hard labor. Or in China where certain words are punishable by death. for example: -COUP (if you're on the phone and you want to talk about building a CHICKEN COUP, most of the time you'll be disconnect with a recorded message saying you violated a law) -JASMINE: I know....Jasmine...and China has a HUGE market for Jasmine tea. -and you can't talk or admit/confirm thay the Tiananmen square incident happened. All books, newspapers, movies and t.v. her either been altered or pushes ripped out ..... I just realized something......my rant has nothing to do with you or was intended to offended you. Sometimes when you are passionate about crimes against humanity, you forget how you got to talking about CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY ....MY BAD

JAMES HARRISON if they open the doors at 6:30 then people will be there at 4 😂. It's just how it is. People will naturally line up super early no matter what time a place may open to beat the rush. That's how you tell if an establishment is really good. No matter what time they open, people will line up hours earlier to be first in line. If you want less of a line go later in the day but you risk going when everything is all gone.

I'm amazed at how slowly and patiently they work. Each item is prepared so carefully..

This is one thing I miss about the South. That passed down from generations, old fashioned, home cooking. It's hard to find!

Visited there earlier today. They moved to a new location my guess being they blew up after this video aired. I got a roast beef sandwich lunch box with a Chocolate Chocolate cupcake and devil egg. Everything was absolutely delicious. I even got to try this famous potato salad and it was everything that people raved about. The key is that made from scratch mayo that they use for all their sandwiches and salads

@@MeadeFatLoss What's wrong with it? I went there recently for the first time, so I never went to the old location.

@@juanitadudley4788 it's in the ghetto area and the older location was on Grace streeet near the capital building so it was nicer area.

@@MeadeFatLoss I could see how that may not be Richmond at it's finest. I didn't particularly feel unsafe, but maybe that's just because I'm not from the area. I don't recall seeing people loitering or anything like that.

@@juanitadudley4788 unfortunately, the city has gotten very bad in the past 4 years since the riots of 2020. It used to be nice but you see a lot of homeless now and graffiti and boarded up buildings. I don't go downtown anymore.

This is absolutely amazing! Not only is the idea and the spreads you put out amazing, but the longevity of your employees! You know you have something good going when people work their 20-plus years! I loved it
