as a washingtonian and native american, your excitement over geoduck makes my heart happy. So many people refuse to try it because of how it looks, but the local tribes have lived off of it long before this part of America was colonized. Thank you for being brave enough to try something new, and for branching out to truly experience what my home has to offer. If you ever come back during the summer, I'd love to extend an invite to you and yours to one of the many powwows held at muckleshoot reservation. Frybread, dancing, drums, blessings...a trade of culture sounds like it could benefit everyone. Hit me up if you're interested!

propertyofluv I’m (obviously) not Mark Weins, but can I come? lol I respect your comment... and would also love to experience your culture if that’s okay. I use to live in WA, and am aiming to relocated Anyway, when you get a chance hit me up! :)

ShoGo Racing sure thing! the huge powwows during the summer are veterans powwow, sobriety powwow, and skopabsh. hit me up closer to the summer or when you move here and I'd be happy to be your guide. There's also a whole bunch of native exhibits at the museums in tacoma that are full of information celebrating my people.

I love Geoduck. It has a texture in between squid and mussels, and a taste I would describe as a cross between a scallop and a mussel. Not quite as sweet as a Scallop, but a much more... I don't want to say rubbery-texture; more like when you bite into a juicy sausage and you get that pop followed by all the juices. That is the experience of the top part of the clam; the bottom is a bit more chewy, though not rubbery. Definitely something I would recommend, but let's face it, Shellfish are awesome. If the scallop is the Crab meat of the Mullosks then Geoduck would be the Lobster. In my experience it's best if you have a little bit of everything and rotate between them.

I'm sure most of us can remember the video announcing Micah's birth. Then when he had his first taste of mashed avocado Ying gave him. And now Micah is a full-blown carnivore. If the pork ribs are tender, Micah's in! This channel gives us the opportunity to explore foods and cultures and countries we may never experience ourselves. But it also gives us a family to experience them with. Never doubt, Mark Weins, that your family has become just as dear to us as your food travels.
