He is blessed to have you take him all over the world learning to meet different people are cultures and eat food of the world. It is educational to him and grounding to appreciate other human beings and helping teach people to live together and create a better world. And the lovely fish, octopi, urchin, grapes, artichokes, olives &oil, honey & yogurt, feta, ,purslane, fava, snails with their field greens, oregano and dittany and thyme.... with a small coffee and a glass or two of raki… oh dear, I'm getting homesick.

Mark the cheese is called Mizithra. Its a richer type of ricotta. There are two types; sweet and sour. The sour one was used in your bougatsa you ate the other day. The sweet was used in your salad. If you have time in Chania make sure you take the bus to Armirida where they specialize in fish. If you go there early around noon you can order wild caught fish (not farm fish). If you are lucky enough and find try the wild fagri and the axino (sea urchin)salad. No matter what you do make sure you take the bus early in the morning and go to Elafonissi and Bali. Bali is closer to Chania; remarkable beach. Elafonissi is on the southern part of the perfecture of Chania. Both beaches will not disappoint I promise. If you walk along where you are and pass the old Jewish Synagogue (round roof) towards the cafes there is a restaurant that serves wild boar. Ask someone and they will point you to the restaurant I am sure. They serve authentic cuisine from Sfakia. Make sure you try chochlous mpourpouristous (fried snails)! I am from Chania and miss it very much. Enjoy!!!
@rosepetals25745 жыл бұрын
Kostas G Hi since you mentioned the jewish synagogue, do you happen to know anything about the last name Kinas? Part of my family were Jews from Greece with that last name. But I can’t seem to find any info on them, most of my relatives aren’t alive anymore. I’m pretty sure my grandmother mentioned they were from Crete. My grandmother’s cousin survived Aushwitz but unfortunately isn’t alive anymore he was a Kinas. Or any info on the jewish community in Crete? Anything would help thanks.

Thank you very much for making this video. Helps us a lot looking for great food in chania. We are sitting exactly in mikio taverna now , going for food galore. Besides this video there's another place, Agipinis. We tried there too. Food is really good. Kudos to you and hope you can make many more video on travelling with good food.

Ohh I guess those small fried fish,those"like fries",are maybe Gavros? I just remember those, eaten at Crete and they were the most delicious I've ever had *^*

No, Maries, (gr: Marida). If it was Gavros, it would be without heads,because it´s bitter.
@plejade41257 жыл бұрын
Kyros Haras oh okay, thank you, it was just because I've eaten Gavros with heads and tails and there was no bitterness, and the locals ate them too like that, google says it too, hm there are maybe different ways to eat? But I have to thank you, I've I learned something about Marida, hopefully next time I can taste them in Greece, thanks you so so much for telling me ^^ have a wonderful time

I've never thrown away a "gavros" head. Not a chance. (maybe in a fancy restaurant? But I wouldn't care about that.)

Raki is the Cretan Name for Tsipouro. In Cyprus we call it zivania, ( zivana = grapes skins )

Not so many as the past...the embargo from Russia costs us a lot. Some asparagus to North Europe, some apples to Egypt and some olive oil.... Spain and Italy beat us cause they are more organized with their marketing...

@@ότικαλύτερο-ρ1χ ... pardon my ignorance in not knowing but what does Russia have to do with it? What is their relationship to Greece?
