Lisa if you can find them you should give the snowskin mooncakes a try. The skin is almost mochi like and usually have interesting flavours. Plus those are fine cold

I remember being next to a Chinese mom offering me a moon cake and other snacks. To be polite I didn't eat too much off the snacks, afterwards I realized in order to be polite and make her happy I should have eaten a lot :/ I don't think that that nice lady and her son flying from Korea to Shanghai 2 years ago will ever know but I am sorry, I did like your snacks!

It is depend on the one who make the mooncake. Some makers make the filling very dry, some very soft. But usually, you eat it while drinking tea.

My dad's mother owns a moon cake shop where they make homemade moon cakes everyday. When I was little I had the honour to go visit their house to see the huge oven and huge trays lined with moon cake doughs and huge bowls of different fillings. I have to say the ones with a whole egg yolk in them tastes amazing! ☺️

The double yolks are usually gifted and very expensive. I like the plain lotus seed paste ones. Not a fan of the trail mix ones either

@@merypricilla2377 trail mix and granola are two different things. Granola is toasted oats and nuts. Trail Mix is usually dried fruit and nuts and sometimes chocolate.

I Love Moon Cakes!!! I'm an older lady now,.. buuuut when I was young I had a boyfriend from Cuba who taught me all about the awesomeness of our local Asian markets here in OKC,OK. The first thing I was immediately drawn to was their different bakery type of buns and sweets. I also tried a Moon cake for the first time in my life and I absolutely fell in love with softer fillings although the mixed nut is also good. That was was back in 1988. For me, nowadays, the local Asian market is just another one of those common everyday stops that one makes for groceries on the way home from work and it all started with a Moon cake & pork bun 33yrs ago. ✨ I've had the privilege watching the Asian markets in our community (OKC,OK) grow and prosper over those 33 yrs. 💕

@@Peach0023 so what? Also some people can handle 800 calories or more. I powerlift and I'm a small woman. But I can easily eat 3000 calories or more. Don't worry about calories and enjoy life. Your body can handle surplus sometimes.

Wow that's a ton of calories, they should feed these to elderly. They have 1,000 calories cookies in the U.S. for the elderly or really anyone who would need them. Keeps them from losing too much weight, specially during risky times of year.

I’ve tried it and I didn’t like it. Both times. Now that I discover there is a durian version, I will definitely go back and try it. The first two times were extremely sweet. It tasted artificially sweet.

The yolk is my favourite part. Cant have something with just one flavour. I save the yolk to eat by itself at the end with a little bit of the lotus left. Maybe change brands? Some brands have yolks that arent as salty.

I remembered eating mooncakes that my vietnam classmate bought to class...I don't remember why we(my class at 14 years old) hated it so badly but someone said that this particular mooncake was eaten with porridge so I am confused. Also, just saying, I live in Singapore so we do like mooncakes, just that the particular one that he brought from vietnam was....different and questionably weird to our palates. Edit:Nvm I realised that they added mungbean paste and salted egg yolk, which was different from the Chinese mooncakes.

When I was in college my Vietnamese roommate introduced me to these. It had the egg yolk in the center as well as some orange flavoring. The flavor combination wasn’t exactly something I was accustomed to but I still finished it off.
