Well the air helps to keep the chips crunchy and fresh. If there's no air in the bag, the chips will become soggy and spoil.

Hence why foods that can become stale are often in heat sealed containers and even shrink wrapped with the sole purpose of keeping air out? Companies put nitrogen gas in the bag to prevent them from going stale too quickly - hence the best before date. Once the best before date is gone, then they start to become stale. (Unless the bag/batch was faulty, I've had some gross chips before)

When I was in Highschool, before the pandemic hit, I would have instant oatmeal for breakfast every morning, and bring it to my engineering class. I would sometimes have something with it, like fruit or whatever else was being served, but watching you make something so familiar reminded me of that. I ended up teaching others how to emulate Pokemon games instead of doing my work most of the time, though. XD

Last time I was in Singapore we got back to Sentosa one evening and found there was nowhere to eat except the hotel (lovely island, but everything closes early!). We took a leaf out of your book and found a 7-11 at Imbiah monorail station. I actually had the butter chicken biriani (it was really good but there was no table to eat at in this 7-11... so hot when you are trying to hold it and not drop it!) and my partner had the 5-cheese pizza. I can't wait to go back to Singapore, a wonderful country.

I personally love 7/11 after living in Japan, it would seem the high standards of cleanliness, customer service and choice are brand wide. Shop owners worldwide should take note, this is how it's done. I wish we had these in England, instead all we get is your local corner shop where they struggle with English, are generally pretty dingy and routinely sell out of date stock.

I agree. The corner shops are nothing compared to these, even the tesco express' and mini co-ops are pretty crappy. I've never seen anywhere really that offers places to heat and cook meals.

it's not really odd because in a few asian cities like hong kong and singapore (the place in the video), we've implemented a policy that deducts a few cents/dollars from your total if you bring your own utensils/food container/cup

I didn't know, that the German company Maggi is so big over in Asia, everybody here uses their broth-cubes, sauce-packs or seasoning-sauce. Like literally in every German household there is something Maggi. Their instant meals are awesome, as well.

I've been making a kind of army stew lately using different ultra long life liquid stocks. There's Pho stock base and Chinese dumpling soup base. The Chinese dumpling soup base is my favourite so far, a taste I have never had before!
