I eat alone usually because I actually don't have friends to go out with and I also travel for work a lot. People seriously don't pay a bit of attention. I often eat alone and my experience is often a pleasant one. Very peaceful and tranquil. Sometimes someone starts a conversation with me and that's quite nice too. I don't really care what other people think, and I think that attitude sparks some respect :)

I used to go away a lot on business, all over the world, and always ate alone. Never experienced a situation like this. I know colleagues that felt unconfortable in that situation, which I can understand as it feels very functional rather than an experience, and would always use room-service instead. I must say I found the skit rather odd.
